Barner over Williams

Zod

Recommended Posts

I can't ever tell when Zod is series or just throwing crazy threads out there that he knows will cause people to get emotional.

In any event, if you want Cam to get killed let Barner start.  I could block back there better than he did last night.  Guy has to learn how to block in the NFL before he even sniffs starting.

And Deangelo rules.  I'd rather have him over any of our RB behind whomever is on the OL.

D-lo has a career YPC average of five yards.  What is Barners? Quit buying into this RBs are worthless after 30 nonsense.  That is the only reason I can fathom why someone who gets as close to the action as Zod would ever post something like this.  I don't think D-lo has the speed to bounce it outside anymore.  Alot must have changed in ten months, because he sure ran a few long TDs last year.  This is ESPN logic on this thread.  This seems like the opinion of someone who doesn't even watch the Panthers.

You call it whatever you want..... I call it like I see it. Whether I am a fan of a player, team, coach, etc... If a guy is underperforming and is getting outplayed then so be it. This isn't about being attached. Go on somewhere with that homeboy.

There are a lot of fans extremely emotionally attached to Deangelo, apparently.

They have Hurney syndrome.

There's nothing wrong with being huge fans of players on the Panthers but these guys are the same ones that would still have Delhomme QBing this team

DWill/Stew<anybody else.

An argument as old as the chicken vs the egg on the Huddle

Same answer, Hurney stupidity gave DWill a contract any player in the NFL would gladly sign.

The Panthers will continue to try and get some value out of our previously brain dead GM's contracts given to DWill and DStew.

Patience is the only answer until this albatross is raised from the Offenses' backs (pun intended).

Barner is a specialist, and must be put in situations he can succeed in, the rest of the RB corp must do their part.

Scheme, line, etc does dictate which runners can have the most success.

You give a hole (and a FB blocker)....Williams is one of the very best runners in the game.

No blockers, no holes....run him in between the tackles? Williams will look pretty average.....and a true power RB or scat back not relying on blocking can have more success.

If all we have is Williams of Double Trouble....it is pretty pointless to run him with no blocking. For every decent run he will kill 3 drives or put us in a hole

Your theory is to have a back who's better running behind a poor/terrible online?

My theory: Fix the damn OL.

Zod's theory however is more realistic....at the present.

We saw what Williams could do last year with no holes against a good D....get stuffed. Can't have a repeat week 1 of the game last year

i remember those arguments.

"jake needs to go. we need a new QB"

"NO! Jake is the best QB that we've ever had!"

"but he's not getting the job done anymore."

"He took us to the superbowl!"

"but that was 6 years ago and before his arm exploded"

"he's a good guy! he's done a lot for the team! we need to keep him!"

    • Bryce has been in the NFL 3 years and still looks like a very mediocre QB. Most games are nothing but mediocre plays with a highlight reel every now and then.  He is a very INCONSISTENT QB and it’s very fustrating. He does not deserve a 5th year option, even though the Panthers and all the dumb asses in the front office will give it to him.
    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
