I'm glad we drafted Short in the 2nd round

The GMAN setup us up nice with this past draft.  Should have a few decent secondary guys next year in the first rounds and some Oline help.  Our Def is setup for the next few years for sure.  Secondary, Oline, WR.   I like what he is doing and love Star and Short.

OG Larry Warford was sitting there screaming for us to pick him in the 2nd, that would have been my pick.  Would have liked to see him bring in competition on the Oline like he did at WR and CB.  I think that would have been a better pick than Short honestly.

It's funny when K Short was drafted sure were a lot of people hating that pick. Always thought people over reacted considering it was the perfect move to set us up for the future & not being a priority for awhile. I see the same type of draft this year with us going with 2 OT & possibly another Guard. With KK & Short to go with the DE, Luke in the the middle all we need is a star in the secondary & will be pretty wrong on D for a long time. I love what Gettleman is doing & have complete faiths in him moving forward.

I see us drafting LT from UNC Hurst in the mid first round.

Then a another LT in the 2nd. Followed by a CB/S in the 3rd. Then a OG in the 4th.

Already itching to do a mock lol

Right, the same way we were drafting a WR in the 1st, OL in the 2nd, DT in the 4th, CB in the 5th, and a safety in the 6th right? This team's not gonna blindly draft for need. BPA all the way -- that's how we ended up with Short, Klein, and Barner this year. You guys never learn.

I knew we were not drafting a WR in the first. Was no one that merited the pick.

I had us taking Short in the 2nd.

The BPA is so subjective. At BEST you have tiers. And in the tiers you have multiple players.

I can guarantee you we will not draft a DT in the first 2 rounds next year REGARDLESS of any supposed BPA.

You can go ahead and compare it to anything you want. It doesn't make the point valid. :)

The point is we all have draft favorites one way or another it's just the preseason and to early to tell who's a bust and who's not. Condemning an undrafted free agent for not making a team that drafted two other receivers in the same year doesn't mean he won't find success else where.

    • in starts, he has played better, been more efficient and outproduced Bryce by virtually every statistical metric that exists in 2025.  And has the 2 head to heads over Carolina.  I mean, your jaw should hit the floor.  But not for the reason you are implying.  That freaking stings.  Denying these realities isn't going to help the Panthers build a better team going forward.
    • He is basically having a polar opposite rookie season than Bryce. 4-3 as a starter on a very bad team.  68% for 237 passing yards and 19 rush per game. 9 TDs,  6 TOs in his starts.  and folks acknowledge the surprisingly play because no one thought poo of the random 2nd rounder and he is player better as a rookie thus far than so many prized picks did as a rookies (not just Bryce but a boatload of dudes).   It's only a sour issue to give someone props because he is a Saint and of course the Bryce thing.  It's like giving the TE in Clev props for having near identical production as the chosen one Tyler Warren.  Fannin is having a great rookie season in a very bad spot.
    • This is a very weird take. The reason Shough doesn't deserve it is because he's only started 7 games. He's doing crazy well for a rookie and out playing plenty of vets with a worse roster. He's waaay above league average in a number of categories during his starts and he passes the eye test in game by making plays. Meanwhile Bryce Young had one of the worst rookie seasons of all time. Still TMac deserves it more. It's only been 7 games for Shough so he doesn't deserve any awards. Even if he gets to 9 he doesn't.
