2011: draft cam

Huddle armchair gm's: "Stupid hurney! He's gonna be a bust. Should have taken gabbert"

2012: ZOMG! Another linebacker?? How stupid. We already have linebackers.

2013: ugh short?? We should have totally reached on a WR.

Glad every huddles knows better than the people in charge.

How many guys are left from the 2011 draft?

You didn't really need precognition to realize that the D14 Guard you just over-drafted by 3 rounds was probably a waste of a pick.

 

This is what I'm saying.  How do we know he was overdrafted?  Are those Mocks 100% legit?  Maybe Gettleman had some old contacts that said he would be snatched in the 5th before it got back around?  Who knows?  Maybe he was on more than 1 teams board.  Everyone saying ohh wasted draft pick etc etc.. can't possibly be patting themselves on the back because who knows how everything is going to shake out.   Everyone is still upset/jaded/emotionally distraught/touched inappropriately from Otah.

How many guys are left from the 2011 draft?

One once fua is cut.

They weren't the greatest drafts in 2011 or 2012 yet everyone in hindsight claims they know better.

Hell, how many armchair gm's flipped their lid when we drafted Klein, kk, barner? If anyone of those had flopped there would be this exact same thread talking about how horrible of a pick it was and that they knew better.

Wasted pick, for this year at least. That #79 plays no games with its victims.

I certainly hope Rivera reconsiders his stupid ass stance of not signing anymore linemen.

 

I really think at this point we have to, right?

 

OL: Gross, Wharton, Kalil, Williams, Bell, Chandler, Scott, Silatolu (out week 1 at least), Byers (hasn't practiced in at least a week), Kugbila (IR), anyone else? We barely have enough for 5 starters.

They know for a FACT he was over drafted because they read it on blogs!

The only pick I questioned was the pick of the DII lineman that has only practiced a total of 3 hours in 5 months.

Paste your résumé. I'm interested to see how it compares to an actual nfl gm.

I don't know many 22 year old NFL GMs.. Good try though buddy. Stick around some of my posts you might learn a thing or 2 about football.

We all raised an eyebrow at the pick.

My whole point is we have no idea what the scouts or gettle knew. Maybe they saw something definitely worth the risk. Maybe they did have intel he was going in round four or five. Just because people read projections doesn't mean they're true.

      I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.

      Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
