Michael Beasley

How many upgrades does this team need before people stop calling it a "bad" team?  I swear, if we signed Dwight Howard this year and traded for Josh Smith or someone our fans would be mad that we could win a few games and not get a high pick.  "This team is 7 or 8th seed at most, until we get Michael Jordan in his prime here." LOL.

I'm only against Beasley because he seems like a nutcase.

Beasley drastically improving our team and hurting our draft position next year means that we would win 5-10 more games purely because of Beasley alone. This is so wrong it is hilarious. If he could affect our season that much, every team in the NBA would be knocking down his door, even with the drug issues... but he can't, so they aren't.

We have already dramatically upgraded our team this offseason, anyone that thinks we are still in the bottom 5 of the league and going to end up with a blue chip lottery pick does not know anything about the players we acquired, nor the state of some of the other teams in the NBA. A few NBA teams are obviously tanking in an attempt to land Wiggins, Parker, or Randle... and I hate to break the news top you, but the Bobcats are not one of those teams. With Beasley or not, we will be on the cusp of the playoffs in the East and will be drafting outside of your delusions.

Basically if they end up outside of the top 10, then picking up Jefferson was the worst mistake this team has ever made. Point blank period and there isn't even a slight question about it. Having a chance at the possibility of what Randle, Parker or Wiggins can be is better then anything that Jefferson can provide unless he suddenly gets quicker on his feet and starts to play some serious defense.

It's not beyond possibility big Al improves his game defensively.  He's been the record saying the "black hole" nickname is something he's earned and that he wants to fix.  He's only had a couple coaches and they probably had him focus on offense.  Maybe a new coach (Ewing, etc) can make him less of a liability.

We will continue to call them a bad team until they show us they're not a bad team. Nobody expected the Lakers to be so shiitty last year, as an example.

I am not saying we will be drafting out of the top 10 for sure, but I do think with the roster changes and additions we have made that we will be drafting outside of the top 5 or 6 which is where the elite players every scout is drooling over will be selected: Wiggins, Randle, Parker, Exum, Smart

    • I don't disagree, but you're not giving our offense enough credit, and I'm not saying we would win the SB, just that we would be contenders, which we would have been. The Bengals had a horrible start to the season last year and it caused them to just miss the playoffs by one game, but had they made it, they absolutely would have been contenders in the AFC.  They had a bad defense, probably worse than ours will be this year, and you can't convince me that we don't have a better offensive roster than they had last year.   We have a Top 10 OL, two 1k rushers from last year, two 1st round WRs, one of the best slot WRs in the league, and then Coker.  Like I said, their Top 2 WRs are better than ours will be this year, but we take them in every other spot, OL, RBx2, and our 3rd/4th WRs.   If Burrow was able to turn that team into a contender last year, no reason he couldn't do the same with our roster this year.  And hell, I think our offensive roster is better than KC's last year too, and while I know their defense did a lot of the heavy lifting last year, if you give Mahomes an improved offensive roster around him, he's going to be THAT much better himself. A Mahomes, Burrow, or Allen would be able to win the South by outscoring teams.  And yes, come playoff time against an Eagles or Lions juggernaut, our defense probably costs us the game, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't at least be contenders. If Bryce can prove me wrong and his supporters here right, and be THAT guy for us this year, I genuinely think we can be a real playoff threat in 2026 once we add a few more pieces to the defense and then be a genuine SB contender in 2027 if the team keeps improving. We're the 2022 Detroit Lions right now.   Great offensive pieces, tons of holes on defense, but if things go right we'll just miss the playoffs (like they did) and then be right in the playoff hunt the next year (like they did) and then be contenders the following season (like they did when they were the #1 seed).
    • Hornets have had the worst luck of any professional sports franchise this century. Constantly drafting a slot below the generational talent, all because of the lottery done behind closed doors. It's been brutal and frankly unfair to be a diehard fan of this franchise, and I don't blame anyone for cutting out the stress.
    • We will see if there is any logic to those sort of packages. I haven't seen a ton of evidence that Evero operates that way.
