The more Rivera talks, the more I worry

The Panthers held a 7-3 halftime lead over Seattle and seemed determined to cling to it in the second half. Instead of attacking, offensive coordinator Mike Shula grew increasingly conservative. It doesn't seem fair: While the San Francisco 49ers talented passer, Colin Kaepernick, plays for an ultra-creative coordinator in Greg Roman, Cam is stuck in a ball-control approach that feels shot out of 1962.

In fairness...the guy who wrote that article....I would be willing to wager didn't watch the 3 drives he essentially is building his entire article about.

We passed on 5 of our 8 first down attempts of the 2nd half. Didn't have a single 3 and out and one of the drives would have been a game leading drive if not for Williams.

The part I agree with is that we haven't found a way to maximize Cam's potential. The panthers aren't getting the best Cam Newton they can.

Seattle's secondary and super quick sideline to sideline D.....IMO had more to do with it than our OC.

One game...Carolina has been the most explosive O in the NFL over the last 2 seasons for 1 reason. Cam. Not sure how a Seattle game suddenly voids everything we know.....when they did the same last year to us

Chip Kelly's offense may very well be a gimmick that regresses as the season goes along, but that's not the point of the question asked.  Rivera was asked about pace.

By adding more plays to the game, all other things being the same, you would expect randomness to decrease in the outcome.  For example, if the Jaguars played the 49ers in a 15 minute football game, they would have a far better chance of upsetting them, than if they played a 120 minute football game.

If you believe you are the better team, it's in your best interest to increase the number of plays in the game.  It gives you the best chance to win.  If you believe you aren't you want to "control the clock" (ie...run less plays and in effect shorten the game).

I wouldn't expect the coach who cant figure out why a 50 yard FG attempt at half is better than throwing a hail mary out of the endzone, or who has zero understanding of risk/reward value of down and distance on 4th downs, to grasp something like this.

I agree only with Oline...everything else is better or the same beside that I only miss Gamble and maybe shockeys attitude

OL is worse and that is the most important aspect of an offense.

RB situation is worse. 2011 with a healthy Stewart IMO was better...

As far as WR. Meh...I think I'd take a one or two year younger version of Smith over whatever our #3 WR is bringing.
