Jon Beason's newest blog 7/9

Beason is an example of the Patriots wiffing on a great pick and the Panthers stepping up to the plate.

People always talk about the Patriots scouting, whether draft or FA... Our fan base is always talking about how we don't have that, well, here's an example of us out doing the Patriots...

They've wiffed in the past alright, but in the case of Beason he sabotaged it so they wouldn't want him. I put the quote up recently (the link doesn't work anymore). I'll see if I can track it down.

Here it is in this thread:

I remember reading about that. He would stop to get water breaks, etc... Just sayin, we still came out on top with a franchise pick... moved back and still picked him up. Just giving props where props is deserved. One of the best LBs in the league would rather play for the almighty Panthers than the almighty Patriots... I understand the Patriots were taken out into the woods and left... lol

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
