If we miss the playoffs at 9-7 or 10-6 and still fire Rivera.. We deserve to be bottom dwellers.

Our D is elite, Cam is playing like Peyton Manning. Rivera inherited a 2-14 team with Jimmy Clausen and a joke of a D. Under him we would have gone 6-10, 7-9 and either 9-7 or 10-6 (assuming that will be our record this year). Not to mention back to back OROY and DROY on his watch. You know what kind of teams fire HCs after winning seasons? Terrible teams that never get ahead.

Rivera is like a brand new HC in recent weeks and he now finally gets it. I hate the NFL's playoff structure that punishes success and Rivera is too good of a man and turning into too good of a HC to get "Lovied" and fall victim to a flawed, unfair NFL playoff structure. You just dont fire a HC that oversees a top 3 D and a QB that is having a MVP season. The reason I make this thread today is because the NFC is looking harder and harder to get in at 9-7 or 10-6. Yes I know many of you have your "'line drawn in the sand" and say its playoffs or else but think about it, you really want to risk breaking up a MVP like QB and a top 3 elite D and our first winning record in ages?

Can you all stop with this retarded talk about playoff positioning? It's Week 8. Eight. Ocho. Octo. We're miles away from having to be concerned about that stuff.

If Rivera deserves to be back he will make his case by keeping this team playing at the level it's shown it can play at and we'll be playoffs-bound.

I mean, there are legitimate options out there to choose from.  Some coaches can rebuild the roster, but still can't win games.  If we don't make the playoffs, then the next guy will have a lot of talent to work with.  Also, don't forget Hurney completely fuged us as far as handing out big money contracts [going all the way back to Delhomme after the Arizona debacle].

There's simply too much inconsistency too warrant bringing him back without at least a playoff appearance this year.....coaching decisions could have easily resulted in a 10-6 7-9 record the past 2 years

But being 10-6 is good enough, in my book Rivera held up his end of the bargain by getting us a winning record, not his fault the NFL playoff rule makers cant hold up theirs.

Or we hire a Greg Schiano 2.0. Imagine how painful it would be having hired a Schiano disaster the year after we go 10-6. And besides, its all but confirmed that the playoffs will br extended in the next couple seasons, so 9-7 will be good enough anyway by that time.

Last time I checked the NFL is a business....ands,ifs, and buts don't count for squat....you don't see belicheck or harbaugh making excuses...they get the job done regardless

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
