This Randall Cunningham A Football Life

How does he feel about RG III? I find it funny that Cam has to learn to be a pocket pass in order to be seen as a viable QB according to the so called experts, but RG, Russell and Colin are allowed to run as much as they please.

Anyway, I keep telling you folks that those guys are simply told what to say about these players by TPTB in the sports media. Every ex-QB who works for any of the popular sports network, seems to enjoy criticizing Cam.

That's possible, but I think the more probable answer is that Cam STILL has not reached his ceiling. And for guys like Kurt Warner, et al., they truly seem to want to have a hand in guiding that development and maturation. Since they aren't coaches, criticizing (some constructively) him is the closest thing they have. Except for Jaws; seriously, screw him.

I guess this dates me, but I played HS football against his brother "Sam Bam" Cunningham. This guy was H Walker/ B Jackson back in the day. He won the Calif. 220 and shot put his senior year in 1968. He went to USC as a fullback, when they were still running backs like Jim Taylor. He was also credited with helping Bear Bryant break the color barrier on the Alabama football team when USC went to Tusgaloosa and blew out the Tide. The next year they recruited their first black player.

Jaws was drafted in 73 and after being traded to Philly in 77 he was the starter until 85-86.  So, after 13 seasons he got injured and was no resigned.  Randell was the new QB but it wasn't like they were two QB's in their prime and Philly went with the running QB.  Jaws was the old vet by then and Randell was the up and coming stud.

I've read the last book Jaws wrote and he had a lot of good things to say about Philly and his time there.  I never got the impression he was bitter about running QB's.

I loved watching Cunningham. I always thought he was a great qb. Especially loved using him while playing TECMO BOWL! I would piss off my buddies when I could break long td runs with him :-)

    • They are 1 and 9 against the  Bucs in the past 10 games. the Panthers go as young goes.  QB1 ‘s are suppose to dictate and overcome  and elevate Everything the QB does affects every part of the team and Bryce is uneven. Canales and Bryce have  an uneven relationship too  as for Evero, the only thing that might save him is the injury to Baker’s left shoulder and oline injuries. I don’t even know how he is out there   I really feel their season ended last Sunday Canales’ division record isn’t great   Getting owned by the Saints and Bucs isn’t a good look
    • Frankly surprised by the amount of people that want to hang Evero. This was a defense that was almost universally considered the bottom of the barrel before this season started. We’ve managed to stat our way to the middle of the pack whatever that means. Those critical of the zone schemes, what do you want? When even JC is getting burnt one on one by Olave you have little choice. There definitely have been moments where the zone blitz stuff has bit us. That said, are the third string linebackers (and nick Scott) covering poo anyway? This unit had only conceded 10 points going into the fourth quarter despite a litany of bullshit penalties on both sides. Them over performing is the biggest reason we are still in playoff contention.
