Will We Ever Get Our Number 1 Receiver In A Draft?

Matthews is a very interesting talent. I think there is a well of explosive potential in that guy, and may be the best kept secret in terms of receivers out of this class. Especially if he puts a little muscle on his bones and is able to still keep his speed. Matthews have what we call, "game speed".

I know Ruff loves this kid and we already have a thread on Matthews in the draft forum so I don't want to turn this into a huge Matthews debate.

My take on Matthews is for one hes so hard to judge. His production has been great but he is a senior and catches alot of screens (42% of receptions come on screens). I think he'd be a solid 2 in this league. I like his size and his game speed his different than his forty speed. One announcer said it good about him, he said "Matthews, is as fast as he needs to be". However I don't think he can make people miss, and therefore doesn't have that "playmaker" label this offense needs. Definitely an interesting prospect that's hard to get a feel for.

Just my 2 cents

Yeah that is a good point. But certain teams flag a guy and it's like he doesn't exist.

At this point we can't care about that type of stuff

We are so woefully lacking at the receiver position

Plus I think the vets on this team can keep them on the straight and narrow

There's a difference between being wrong and making an @ss out of yourself just because you don't like a player/team.

Let me guess, you were on the "Alshon is fat and slow" bandwagon?

Oh please, stop trying to make this about some disrespect for your favorite college team. Nobody gives a damn, this an NFL forum.

Frankly, I don't recall how I felt about the guy since it was nearly two years ago. It couldn't have been too strong either way.

Just give me two damn receivers next year!

(1) Matthews / Lee (might just be there)

(3) Moncrief / Parker / Hoffman (the kind of receiver who just seem to be able to play in the NFL)

2015: Trade up for my boy "DORIAL GREEN-BECKHAM"!!!!!!!!!!!!

LaFell have improved but I'm sick of the consistency that comes with him.

I wouldnt even take the chance with Crief, he is too physically gifted and to great of hands to pass up in the 1st.

I have not taken a look at Mathews but the last time I heard "he has game speed, not good 40 times" was Joe Adams. Everyone defended Joe Adams like he was a can't miss and he's out of the league now. Speed is a must for little guys. Mathews looks pretty big so he can probably get away with it.

Agreed. I mean he went undrafted. If he acted up, we could just cut him. Wouldn't hurt us since we didn't draft him. Andrew Luck is about to have 3 good WRs with Rogers, Ty Hilton, and Reggie Wayne coming back.

Man i dont even want to imagine this, thanks for bringing it up smh

The sad part is we might not retain Lafell because of cap room. He's due a new deal. There are plenty of teams in the NFL that would consider him an upgrade.

Meanwhile, all Cam has is Amini Silatolu...

Yet posters like KendrickPanther want Cam to put the entire team on his back every game, lol.

In this thread KendrickPanther has definitely stated we need to get Cam some weapons, unless I'm drunk.

I care less about Lafell. He has improved but nothin that warrant for a new deal. Ginn will more than likely be retain and if Gman is smart enough to draft two receivers we should be in a good position.

LaFell is no damn Moose 2.0. I dont get where fans keep getting that from. I have never in my life seen Lafell beaten a no.1 corner. I'm not gonna hold my breath for that day to come. At least Ted Ginn has a resume of beating Revis during his time in Miami and this season. ;)
