Press release:

The Charlotte Bobcats announced today that the organization will introduce the brand identity of the Charlotte Hornets during halftime of the first Buzz City Night on Dec. 21 vs. the Utah Jazz. The Dec. 21 Buzz City Night is driven by Mercedes-Benz and will include Mercedes-Benz sponsoring a Buzz City long-sleeve T-shirt giveaway to the first 10,000 fans in attendance. Tipoff for the Bobcats-Jazz game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The game will serve as the official unveiling of the Charlotte Hornets brand identity and will include the introduction of logos and wordmarks that will be utilized when the Hornets name returns for the 2014-15 NBA season. Bobcats Chairman Michael Jordan will lead the unveiling event during a special on-court ceremony at halftime.

“We are excited to introduce to our fans the next step in our overall brand identity as we transition to the Hornets,” said Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield. “Our fans were the driving force to bring back the Hornets name and we wanted to share this announcement with them. In addition to the logo unveil, we are excited to celebrate the first of our five Buzz City Nights. These nights will provide great opportunities to honor the rich history of Hornets basketball with our fans in unique ways.”

you really dont know what it will be?

I bet anyone in here $100 that it will be a logo of a teal and purple hornet

Are u for realz. Now way lol.... Just playing. I'm like u I'm pretty sure it will be a hornet on purple and teal. I'm curious if try have altered the hornet any and incorporated the new black and grey into. Grey and black will look amazing with teal and purple on jerseys. If they use that combo it would awesome.

It will be a modernized more fiercer version of the old logo. I work at TWCA and have lunch in the same break room as some of the big dogs. One of them was showing it off to another one and I got a glimpse over their shoulder

Picture or it didnt happen. Draw it out.

How the hell are the big dogs going to have lunch in the same break room as you too?

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
