Hennessey Corvette C7 hits 200MPH on TX highway

The guy is driving this car 1-handed. Watch his left hand, it's holding a stopwatch or something else, but it's not wrapped around the steering wheel.

I saw that... no idea what he's holding, but it's not the steering wheel...

Corvettes have been hitting 200mph for years & years.

Thanks for the insightful commentary.

You don't like them?  I think they're awesome.

i HATE the back ends on them and think the front ends are alright, but just a rip-off of the new Viper's... the last gens were far superior in the looks department imo

i assumed it was nitrous... he hits it when he was starting to lose major power and he took off again.  could be wrong though

That's what I kind of thought at first, but he holds it down a long time... I didn't think you could use nitrous for very long.

I loved the C6's too... but I really like this C7.

The button is connected to a pigtail and he begins holding it down after he makes his final shift at about 150mph. I'm thinking it's one of 2 things:

1. An override to the onboard computer that is basically either a governor/rev limiter or

2. They installed some sort of recording device to capture the actual speed/engine performance to begin at a certain point.

And while this may be "ancient history" to some, the 1966 split-window is still the most iconic Corvette ever built:

    • Nfl leaders don't look at the population of just the city itself.  Charlotte has three of the top fifty combined statistical areas within a 1 to 1.5 hour drive.  Charlotte, Greensboro/WS/High Point, and Greenville Spartanburg.  Those three statistical areas include nearly 7 million people.  Other than Raleigh, the only one in the top fifty within an hour and half of raleigh is Greensboro.  So only about 4-5 million people.  Charlotte has many more people to draw from.   Also, many of the surrounding communities for Raleigh are not native born.  If memory serves, many still refer to Cary as Containment area for relocated Yankees.  One of the reasons the Canes do so well is a significant portion of the population are people who moved from Northern Areas.  Would that population translate into support for a NFL team?  Hard to say, but I see a tremendous amount of Giants/Jets jerseys in the triangle when I forced to endure the crazy traffic on 40/85.
    • This will also be prime Training Camp meltdown time on here lol. Preseason game 1 August 8th, i'm guessing camp starts around July 25-27th
