The issue us that you will have over $20m a season in the DE position. That is a very steep price with the salary cap.

We have other needs in this team and two good backups at DE.

I want Gettlemen to find a way to keep him. But due to economics, I won't be surprised if we lose him.

 

Well I mean some of you act like DG is going to just let him walk for nothing. As I said before. Hardy takes a deal that DG offers him and his agent. Refuse and could be franchise tag and he sits out or DG will tender him ask for no less then a 1st round pick out of the team that wants him bad enough. DG has been through enough this plenty of times with the Giants over the years. The guy ain't going let Hardy walk for nothing. See DG has the upper hand right now. Hardy signs longer contract or a one year tender or the team that wants him bad enough will give us their 1st round pick in this year draft coming up. There we can just replace Hardy with the pick we get from that team that wants him bad enough.

I mean I would love to keep him. But we have to consider the long term of this team tho. We have get a better oline to protect Newton next year and also get him a top notch WR from the draft he can throw to. What ever team willing to pay for him. We can us that 1st round pick and replace him or use to get a top WR in the first round and allow Horton and Alexander to fight for the starting spot. But either way DG and the Panthers have the upper hand right now. Hardy wants to stay he ask for a decent contract that want kill us in the future, but he will get a nice pay check as well. I'm sure in the end u DG and Hardy will work it out. Let's just enjoy the playoffs for now.

Hardy sits in 8th place with 11 sacks, while Johnson is at 23rd place with 6 sacks. They both have 1 FF. I really hope that we can keep Hardy on team. Our team would only improve, we're scary good now, man we'd be crazy good....

Hardy will still take some kind of discount not much.  You have to realize who his agent is at this point and his agent wants max contracts on his resume.  KEEP POUNDING!

Pro Bowler or not, the odds of signing Hardy to am extension are pretty low. The Panthers cap situation is tight and they have a slew of free agents this offseason. I could see Hardy getting the franchise tag while Gettleman sorts it out though
