McDermott to interview for Redskins HC this weekend...

Op is right. What if Greg Hardy was meeting with the Giants right now about a contract for next season? These coaches get too many privileges. Damn season ain't over and your interviewing for jobs.

That is a terrible comparison.  League rules do not allow teams to contact players until a certain date.  And that date is the same for all players.  Because teams are allowed to hire coaches any time, it is unfair to coaches in the playoffs if they aren't given a chance.  Hell, RR has interviewed during the playoffs before (http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/8514/report-bills-will-look-at-ron-rivera).  I don't know why everyone has their panties in a bunch.

FYI if a team wants you that bad they will WAIT until your teams season is over. Sounds like he's desperate to me

If the giants wanted to interview Hardy for a head coaching job I'm sure that would be fine.

But if they wanted to interview him as a player (lateral move) they couldn't, just like SM couldnt interview for a different coordinator job (also lateral move ).

One of the things McDermott has been noted for throughout his career is his dedication to work. It's been said that he'd stay in the office overnight to study opponents, and I think that was while he was still mostly a position coach. Don't worry, he's still focused on the current task at hand.

SMH I once said before I thought he would make a good head coach. Not sure anymore. This is a terrible decision. Shows that your not 100% focused on the task at hand. And let me tell you something when you know your getting off the boat it's a lot easier to slack off at keeping it upright.

Ask Gus Bradley privately and I bet he wishes he was with the Seahawks trying for a Super Bowl instead of being Ring Master over the Jacksonville circus.

And the fuging Redskins? Smh

I agree with everything except the knock on Jacksonville. They have good ownership, and a good gm. Either way they are heading in the right direction. It was impressive that they managed 4 wins with that roster. He is a great coach and they are heading in the right direction. If they stumble across a franchise qb like we did, look out in about 2-3 years.

SM isn't going to skip a practice for this guys. He is allowed to interview before the season ends, it is a common practice in the NFL, and if the man has a day off to further his career I say let him do it. The last thing we want to do is be the only team that hoards our coaches jealously. Who would want to sign with us when they have less opportunity than 31 other teams? We certainly didn't and won't wait until after the playoffs to target coaching staff. I am also sure they can not begin talking contract until after the season so this won't be a distraction. In fact this is probably going to motivate him more.

Yall are extremists.

Hope he stays but if he goes what people are left for us to go for at DC?

there's plenty of good DC talent out there if he leaves. Him leaving isn't the end of the world in the slightest, but it's just wrong to do to your guys you've been to hell and back with recently

    • Not many are talking about this player. He played well as a rookie last year. If he refines his blocking, continues studying film, and keeps working hard, I can see him being the next Greg Olsen. I’m expecting 55 catches, 700 yards, 4 TDs this season.
    • I'm not a Bryce hater and I would 100% move on.  Especially looking at how the upcoming qb draft looks on paper.  Hopefully he continues to improve but if in 3 seasons you're still chasing average season numbers then he's not going to be the guy.  You've just got to keep taking swings until you hit.  Average qbs without any elite physical traits cant get it done anymore.  So this year Hopefully he continues to develop and is above average statistically.
    • Meltdowns???? He was pulled by Canales because he wasn't executing the game plan after 2 games into the season so he could watch Dalton execute the offense and show Bryce the windows available in the NFL, how to push the ball down the field and how to step up and move around when blitzed. When Young came back 5 games later he clearly watched and improved. Enough he was named the future starter. He doesn't have a history of  meltdowns nor is there any reason to assume he will have one. From what I have read he is mentally strong and emotional stable. He may have bad games down the road, everyone does. But this is all a learning experience for him and so far he seems to be making progress. I can understand being hesitant on anything Panthers, but Young has surprisingly been able to gain his confidence after a disastrous start. You aren't alone in being cautious but I think he is the future. I thought he was too small and too short to succeed in the NFL. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised last year and am optimistic about the offense for the first time since Wilks and Dalton were decent.
