Chargers/Bengals Game Thread

Why would they review the play if forward progress was called? I don't care who wins, I'm just wondering...

That is a good question.  The fact that the ref kept the clock running means it had to be forward progressed since he landed out of bounds.  Nothing at all was clear about that sequence.  Luckily it turned out the right way (Bengals 3 points) even if the process was screwy.

Andy Dalton and his repeated high throws... wow.

Wait, wut?

His receivers are catching that poo?

They're allowed to do that?

Yeah, right!!

Dalton, had a stretch, where he threw about 7 "high" or off target passes in a row, and they were all caught.

Several of them, were spectacular "bail out" variety catches.

Who would have thunk it, according to many Huddler's?

As the late Jim Nabors/Aka Gomer Pyle would say: Well "Golly-eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I envy those damn Bengals. Dalton can just fling it when he's in trouble while Cam has to be perfect even when his protection falls apart.

Yeah, I think what "some" of the huddle doesn't realize is: Some QB's can just chuck the ball up high or in a certain dirction, cause they know their receivers will either catch, come back for, or bat the ball way from the defender. As you stated: Cam doesn't have that Luxury.

Put Dalton on the Panthers, with their line and receivers, and he'd be woefully average. Maybe even bad, with his inaccuracy.

Yep, so instead you hear "Cam needs to step up", "Cam needs to do this", blah blah blah.

I really hope a certain few huddlers are watching these games this weekend but I doubt it.

Yup Yup. It should/would be very helpful to them, since so many appear so memory or Football deprived outside of Panther games :phew: .

Or its because Dalton and Rivers put it where only their receivers can catch it. Something Cam can't do.

    • Correct this logic I might if it meant taking his guaranteed money now and spread it over 3 years (2026-2028) and maybe add $6m.  I am not sure you can do that, or that he would do it, but it would be a way for him to extend his career and bank accounts and we would be getting him for $6m for 2 years (if healthy), basically, since his entire salary is guaranteed now.  If not, we lose an additional $6m spread over 2 years.  So let's say his guaranteed $$ for 2026 is $18m.  Give him a $24m contract ($8m per) through 2028.  Worst case:  We get $10m in cap relief now and create $3m dead cap for 2 years (2027-8).   Best case?  We get cap relief now and a good/decent guard/tackle for 2 years (2027-2028) and the total salary per year when he is active would be $12m if you don't count any money for the season he cannot play.  That is a good value, and we'd basically be getting a 50% discount rate.  Since we have so much guaranteed now, extending him is not as crazy as it seems.   Something has to be wrong with this logic...
    • I don't disagree about Nikishin's potential availability, but Hamilton as a replacement? Not an upgrade in my book.
