How much would it cost us to trade up for Watkins?

I still think we are going to sign Giants  free agent WR. Hakeem Nicks.

("Hakeem Nicks, who has never played a full 16-game season, has seen his production slip because of injuries and lethargy. He has tons of talent, but time is running out for him to put it together.")

We would basically give away most of this draft and key parts of next years.  Even though everything looks rosy being in the play offs and all, we still have a lot of holes to fill on both sides of the ball.  There should be a lot of late 1st round prospects available that may or may not be a WR.  I personally think we need a Receiver (not ruling out TE), CB, OL and FS.  We need to emulate last years draft, not in terms of starters but in terms of fixing units.  Last year we fixed the D line and strengthened the LB position.  This year I think we should ideally concentrate solidifying the O line and work on strengthening the Receiving Corp and secondary.  With a full set of picks and thinking we will not shy away from making a strength stronger, I would be happy with  2 starters and 2 rotational impact guys spread across those areas.

"Maybe a 4th or 5th"? You must be new to the game. Its gonna take more than "maybe" a 4th or 5th to move that far up. We would still be turn down if we was to offer all of our picks this year.

The Failcons gave up two 1st, a 2nd, and two 4th.

Your deal isnt even close.

That's why I was asking, you don't have to be a douche nozzle.

If Evans, Watkins, or Lee are available by our pick then take them they are an instant 700yd receiver. Otherwise if they are picked its likely an oline or db moved down the list and would be more valuable. Plus it's likely we can still get a decent WR in the 2nd.

I don't know how the rest of you feel, but personally I would rather draft Jordan Matthews from Vanderbilt later in the draft. That guy put up monster numbers with a mediocre quarterback against some of the toughest defenses in college football, while being the focal point of that entire offense. Consider this: Starting QB: 2300 passing yards, Matthews 1500 receiving yards.

Yup. Matthews is going to be a stud. But, he's not wowing anyone bc of the other little things that intrigue people.

He is a 1st round talent but could potentially be a 2nd rounder.

I would really just take him with our pick in the 1st. Matthews is almost like Keenan Allen. A receiver who everyone know that is going to have instant impact but nobody wants to take him.

Instead of giving you a litany of reasons why Matthews will impress, I'd rather point to one factor that's often overlooked. Find a productive, multi-1,000 yard receiver at the college level who was elite without an established quarterback and I'll find you an NFL stud.

Initially this seems like an over-simplification, but Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, A.J. Green and Julio Jones all fit this mold. Move slightly away from the top of the NFL elite and you find Alshon Jeffery, Keenan Allen and Demaryius Thomas -- all of whom have the same characteristic.

It doesn't mean that every productive receiver without a quarterback is NFL ready, but it's a nice indicator. A good quarterback makes a receiver look better, a great wide receiver can make his quarterback look better.

Lets ask the Falcons what they gave up to get Julio Jones... it was their 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, and I believe next years 1st round pick.  Watkins is a great player, but I can't justify giving up all those picks with all the holes we have to fill.
