Cam thread ~ Lets get it out of the way.

Cam seems to have worked hard on some things and it truly showed this season.

He still has some progress to make, like being able to throw the ball away and recognizing when to do it a lot earlier.  Intangibles and mechanics should be his offseason chore

But, I will agree with Red.  The lack of a running game is what cost us today.

Long term, we need to invest in some maulers up front.  SF has several high draft picks on their OLine and I am hoping Gman is agreeing with that philosophy.  Hoping Stewart retires

Did you see that 15 foot throw that Crabtree caught early in the game?

And the throw to Bolding that he caught off of his shoelaces?

What receiver on the Panthers could manage that?

Cam isn't allowed to make a single fuging mistake because, when he does, there is NO ONE on this goddam team that can help him out even one little bit.

And when they don't, it's CAM'S mistake.

Yeah man that is exactly what I am talking about. Those were big 3rd down catches that affected the outcome.  People keep acting like talent at WR is a luxury but if we want Cam reach his potential  he needs help. Expecting a 3rd year QB to play perfect is ridiculous. We got Star specifically to help Keek up his game, but Cam somehow is suppose to elevate the whole offense on his own.

Yeah, cause how many of those potentially "tipped ball" this and last playoff weekend became catches or deflections (cause the receivers fights for the ball)?? But with Cam it's an INT.

Steve Smith, appears to be the only fighter, but he's only 5'9", and in the twilight of his career.

Credit to your team

Just hope our GM gets his head outta his ass and gets some wr

Cam just needs some weapons around him. You need a player with speed that commands double coverage. Ginn has wheels but he's a one trick pony (seam routes) and not very good shaking off coverage on intermediate routes that require breaking off routes to gain separation. Smith is a baller but has lost a step in speed. Most of the pieces are in place for the Panthers to get over the hump.

You dumb sh-ts.

Cam is the one consistent thing we've had. He's the reason we got 12 wins and made it this far. He's our future and he'll take us to many, many playoffs and Super Bowls.

He is not a problem. He's the best thing on our team.

Newton didn't play well. Sad but true.

But realistically, our major problems are the same they've been since early in the season (OL, WR, CB).

Fix those things.

Playing well or not is relative. He had the most yards rushing and out-rushed our starting RB by 34 yards. For what Cam had to work with he played pretty well. There was no other offense for our team.

Put Colin or any of the other QBs behind this team's Offense as is and then I will get back to you.

But, I will blame many of you Panthers fans before I blame Cam. It's clear to me that your only interest is WINNING not building a team around this kid. Three seasons in and all I've seen is a team making progress. All I see from many of you is bitching moaning about every play your QB makes or didn't make while you continue to ignore this team's real issues. You then start endless threads just like this because you know many will respond and Cam has been made an easy target thanks to the jealousy of those who hate him because he's not their son.

If you honestly want to see this team compete with the best, then you have to accept the fact that this team needs a whole lot of fixing.

I will take Cam any day over Colin, Luck, and RG III. Russell, I am not to sure, thou. He may be a toss up with Cam.

Over Wilson too. I like Wilson but he was a non-factor against the Saints. Not that there is anything wrong with that because Tom was asked to do the same thing as Wilson. Anyway, this is playoffs football. Stat padding isn't getting you anywhere. This is not the time to put your QB on display and say "watch 'em throw". That's why Indy keep getting blown out. They keep trying to feature their 'great one' to a national audience in the playoffs and keep getting embarrassed. It's now becoming an NFL tradition for me watching Indy get blown out and their QB throwing 3+ INTs every year.

Cam's in the mix as the Number 9 to 12 quarterback in the league. Will be interesting to see if he gets some weapons around him next year. I don't think too many qusrterbacks could make an aging Smith, an inept Lafell or a glorified return man Ginninto a feared receiving stsff. I trust Gettlemann to make the right decisions in the offseason regarding personnel. I really don't think other than Kuechly you have anyone here who is totally untouchable.

Wilson was 9/18 with just over 100 yards yesterday and still won.

Must be nice...

Cam has those numbers and this place goes effing bonkers. Cam is being asked to do the most out of any QB in the NFL. He's our leading rusher, when we have 2 highly over paid running backs and the best FB/RB in football.

Brady didn't even have to throw a TD pass last night and they still scored 43 points.

You can seriously name 8-11 QB's you would take over Cam?

Considering what he has to work with, I have him at 9.

Almost every qb in the league would have some difficulty with the skilled position talent or lack there of

    • The thing I hate about strength of schedule is that NFL teams change so much over a year and past success or failure doesn't really dictate future success or failure
    • Considering you previously struggled to understand BTT despite it being explained in a video, write-up, and multiple replies, I get why this might be a little too complex for you. Happy to clarify again! Just let me know which part tripped you up this time. 😉
    • And, honestly, there's only so much you can attempt to do in the draft. And every draft pick is a roll of the dice. But that's where grabbing a ton of UDFAs, and targeting the best, makes a big difference. Sure, their individual chances of getting a hit here is less, but that shotgun pattern might just hit something.  Right now, we need bulk, partly to rebuild and partly to dilute the deep level of stank that has developed on this team in the last six years. If we're going to rebuild a culture built around culture, accountability and winning, then these UDFAs we bring in each season have to be the wash water that gets out that leftover dirt.  Canales seems to be a smart, culture-first, build up the good ones kind of guy. I like that and I hope he can keep it going here. But he was working against a locker room that had been taught to lose and taught to distrust or ignore coaches. He's got his work cut out for him, still. He does seem to have it moving in the right direction and that's something I was pretty amazed with by the end of last season.
