Lombardi talked last night about Jax and it kind of made sense what all they were saying as reasons. Fairly close to ATL, so maybe they get some of the Vick fans converting teams, already a small market that has trouble selling out so that may help them.

The Jacksonville idea also has me wondering about his "mentor" getting an itch.

I would say Oakland, but then again Vick just spent 2 years in prison with Murderers, Rapists, Thugs & Human Scum why would he want to go to the NFL equivalent (Oakland Raiders)

Warden AL Davis, has a nice ring to it

Apparently...not.

From PFT: Raiders likely don't want Vick either

...Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News recently pointed out a fairly important fact regarding the potential placement of Vick in the silver and the black:

The autumn wind is a dog lover.

Specifically, Raiders president Amy Trask serves on Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation, as a member of the board of directors.

Here's a quote from the mission page of the group's web site: "ARF saves dogs and cats who have run out of time at public shelters and brings people and animals together to enrich each others lives. ARF strives to create a world where every loving dog and cat has a home,

where every lonely person has a companion animal, and where children learn to care."

So, yeah, we probably should put the Raiders on the Anti-Vick List, since they won't likely be signing him.

The list in question can be seen here: link

Up to 18 teams now, including the Bengals, Raiders, Lions, Bills (sorry TO) and most recently the Rams.

Based on Florio's tracking, here are the teams that are still possibilities:

New England Patriots (possible, but he doesn't really fit as a backup for Brady)

Pittsburgh Steelers (unlikely, they've already got one PR issue under center)

Cleveland Browns (a three way QB controversy?)

Tennessee Titans (Collins, Young and Vick? just can't see it)

Jacksonville Jaguars (been batted about here; makes some sense)

Denver Broncos (McDaniels and Vick? I have my doubts)

Minnesota Vikings (no Favre, so Vick? maybe)

Chicago Bears (see: New England Patriots; I just don't see the fit)

New Orleans Saints (and again, see above)

Nine teams, two thirds of them in the AFC.

Jags and Vikings seem to make the most sense, though you never know with the Pats.

Jax does make the most sense from a low profile perspective, if that is possible.

I am wondering if Vick is ok with an obvious backup role. If so, I wonder if the Tony Dungy/Lovie Smith buddy thing comes in to play.

The issue I see with him going to Chi is the big city animal rights backlash. Sh*t, when a bigass cougar was rippin' thru the streets of Chicago and the Chicago PD correctly shot it, we had loons coming out of the woodwork claiming they didn't need to put the animal down.

The 6 game suspension thing to start the year is also a consideration.

Dunno, this situation is very intriguing, since we don't even know if the guy still has the skills he went to the stripey hole with.

Minnesota has now said a definitive "no", as have the Bears, Titans and Raiders.

There was some speculation today as to the Ravens, but given they have Flacco starting and Troy Smith as a backup, seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

I'm beginning to think it's either New England...or nobody :sosp:

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
