Hardy wants to get paid.....but but....he also wants to WIN...he will soon learn that both don't always go hand and hand.....either goto a crap team and do nothing all season get a handful of sacks when the backup QB comes in because they are killing your team.......or....stay in carolina maybe make a few good deep runs in the playoffs and maybe just maybe get a superbowl ring while getting a handful of sacks and become a legend......KEEP POUNDING!

Tons of cap room. Would love his personality on their team. Desperately need marquee players.

Sent from the Carolina Huddle App

Not a bold prediction there Zod.....they have over 60 million in cap space I believe :startle: . They're going to make a god after every top free agent.

We can not afford to pay his tagged salary, so if we tag him, it will be likely that a trade has already been worked out. I don't think you understand the situation clearly.

No I understand perfectly fine. You just have no clue what you are talking in terms of why or why not things will work. Most people on this board don't understand simple tagging procedures or how the cap works.

When I stated:

A tag and trade deal here is unlikely for a variety of reason IMHO. First, why would the Raiders give up a draft pick when, if they don't make this trade, it is likely that Hardy hits the free agency market. Second, the Raiders would only be guaranteed a contract with Hardy for 1 year at a rather hefty price, when they could use that draft pick and get a player cheap for multiple years. 3rd, due to the above indicators, the Raiders wouldn't offer more than a 3rd. The Panthers would likely receive a 3rd round compensation pick just for letting him walk.

Your response was that if we tag him he wouldn't hit the FA market. Well, no Sh*t Sherlock.

Of course if we tag him he won't hit the FA market.  If you are too F'in dense to realize what I meant I will explain it to you like your 5.  The Panthers cannot afford to tag Hardy.  If we do tag Hardy, it would likely be because we had already found a trade partner, like had been discussed with the Raiders.  So, as I stated, why would the Raider make this tag and trade deal with us (prior to us tagging him of course) when he is likely to hit the open market.  Again, because we cannot afford to keep him.

Except we can afford it. So your entire premise is full of poo. So you can calm down and not get your panties in a twist

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
