Meh... I'm a Barca/Real Madrid fan (Ronaldo vs Messi = hella of a show).

You've gotta be one or the other man. You can enjoy watching great soccer which both play, but you can't say you're a fan of both. Fan of Messi and Ronaldo, or Bale and Neymar, that's alright. But fan of Real AND Barca....ugh. I'm a fan of Real and appreciate guys with talent like Messi and Neymar, but I also root for Barca to lose every game...

I received my MBA from Charlotte.

I've seen games at Bank of America Stadium (Panthers), Charlotte Coliseum (Hornets), & TWC Arena (Bobcats), Turner Field (Braves), Nationals Park (Nationals), Camden Yards (Orioles), Citizens Bank Park (Phillies), New Yankee Stadium (Yankees), Rogers Centre (Blue Jays), Jacob's Field (Indians), & AT&T Park (Giants).

I toured the Dean E Smith Center while at Roy Williams' basketball camp, New Yankee Stadium with my girlfriend while on vacation, & AT&T Park while visiting a friend who plays for the Giants.

What the fug is your point?

Walking around stadiums has absolutely nothing to do with the Super Bowl. The NFL has already stated numerous times that Charlotte does not have the resources to host a Super Bowl.

Neither does your choice of wasting time in college for a career path with little to no job opportunities.

Again, what is your point?

Hey look our new resident douchey tarhole fan. You care so little about soccer that you mist argue with them in abthread that states it is about soccer. If you didn't care you wouldn't have opened it up.

Guest Dark Knight

Go downtown at ANY time on Saturday August 2nd.

For what? To see that 70k people from across the entire southeastern United States will come to Charlotte to watch one soccer match?

Big deal. Football, basketball, & baseball are still the only popular sports in the US. Put an MLS team in Charlotte and nobody would care.

Golf & tennis are more popular than soccer.

Speak for yourself. I think this thread shows that people do care.

You're right. 10 people on a sports forum excited about a soccer match totally make it popular. I'd say well over 50% of NC residents are hardcore NFL fans. Hardcore soccer fans probably make up less than 1% of the state.

I played soccer in high school, occasionally play in a rec league with friends, & watch on tv from time to time. That has nothing to do with soccer's popularity.

That was random, I couldn't care less about UNC. That summer I went to basketball camps at UNC, Duke, & Kansas. Thanks for showing your ignorance & uncontrollable hate & envy of UNC like 99% of Duke/State fans.

While you may be right, that doesn't mean the turnout for this game isn't going to be very strong.Again, you don't like soccer. That's fine. Why even bother to come in here and make sure the soccer fans know though?

Personally I enjoy watching any sporting event at an elite level. By all accounts, this is elite level soccer. So I will check it out and hopefully enjoy it. My son is playing soccer this spring so I might as well start to enjoy it.

I feel this same way.....not big into soccer (although I played for a few years and coached my son's team for 4 years) but I have an interest in seeing this. I guess for the elite competition I will see and overall experience, maybe I will get interested in following it.

I'm a fan of the match up but I usually cheer for Madrid.

Fair enough. I'm a fan of Madrid, but also individual players. Which is great, because it keeps me interested in all the other leagues in the world. Dortmund & Bayern games have been really exciting as well the last few years. Hate to see what happens to Dortmund after this year though. Likely that they lose Lewandowski, Reus and Gundogan all in the same Summer.
