Miles Austin to the Panthers?

I think someone is going to bid high on Nicks, would be really surprised if he ends up here.

I guess the general assumption was that since he had a REALLY down year and declined in general over the last two years, that he would have to go somewhere on a one year deal and prove his worth. Add in all the ties to Charlotte, Getts, and NC in general and the Panthers make sense.

But you're more than likely right. Someone will throw big money at him for his past performance hoping he will rekindle it.

Bc, I dont see Gman pulling the trigger on two solid receivers in FA. I cant really remember a time where that ever happened in the NFL before too.

I guess the key word there is Solid. Austin was an after after thought on his own team behind Dez and Whitton and the young guys that were stepping up. And while Nicks wasn't an after thought he just didn't play up to par.

Nicks could be elite and maybe getting home sparks that but I looked at Austin as an also ran that people were over looking but who would also be a bigger upgrade for a team like us. And maybe coming in and playing a bigger role will be what draws someone like him who went from being the man for one season to "meh"

    • You’re right. I was thinking of the GB game with the silly reach for the goal line when he wasn’t close that turned into a goal line fumble. I do remember all the discussions in here about end of the game interceptions and bad passes, etc. but that wasn’t against the Chiefs. That said, still the best season by a QB since Cam. Best 4 game run was Darnold to start 2021, but best full season was Teddy. That makes me really sad.
    • Agreed. I think they never seriously considered him an option even though he was/is miles better than Darnold.  I think the ego stuff was massively overplayed. He was played for the Browns, a disaster organization, and he accomplished more than they have in years. He came here to another diaster organization that happened to be worse than Cleveland and he didn't succeed. But, how could he? Frankly, who the fug could? I think our general fanbase really underestimates how terrible this organization truly is. It can nuke anyone.  poo, you see how Stroud is struggling with a damn good Texans team? Can you imagine how bad he would be here in our circumstances?? He can thank his lucky stars we made the choice we did.
    • I think the vast majority of QBs only thrive or die based on their situations. But some are capable of making everyone else around them better in a way they redefine, or at least elevate, those situations. And some of the former group also just never will really have "it" when the moment matters. So far it feels like Bryce either needs the perfect situation or he just doesn't have "it". I suppose we'll get the season to see if that changes, but to call me skeptical is an understatement.
