Charles Davis from NFLN "Mock Draft 2.0"

I absolutely think we should get a RB, in the middle to later rounds.  If we get a RB in the first Getts needs to be fired on the spot for simply showing some similarity to Hurney.  I wouldn't take a 2 for 1 combo of the best two RBs in the draft at #28.  The league could offer us our pick of whichever and as many RBs we want if we take them all at #28 and only spend one pick on them and I still wouldn't take it.

i would support an RB with the first if we

(1) got rid of jstew and his contract

(2) got serious beef for the offensive line in free agency

(3) signed hakeem nicks and a tight end in free agency

(4) tagged hardy and got draft picks when the raiders snatched him like morons and used those draft picks to fill other needs

if all those things happened i'd be all for it. a young, cheap eddy lacey type would do wonders behind a fixed offensive line and we'd immediately morph to a top-ten offense.

Even if we do all that I don't want to spend a 1st on a RB. 2nd or 3rd at the very earliest. FWIW Lacey went 61st overall.

    • Anybody got a clue what this is supposed to mean? 🤔
    • I figured as much. Hopefully he's just resting up and will be ready for round 3 (if we make it that far.)  Sucks to see. Hes been our best defender (besides Slavin) in the playoffs so far.
    • I've never bought into the idea. There's just too much at stake, even for front office people. Jobs are lost, trust is lessened, lives are altered, reputations are damaged and more. Throw in that the average front office person isn't as young as the average player. They may not have ten years ahead of them to salvage their careers. Any given year could be their last. The only person not guaranteed to suffer some direct form of consequence from losing is the owner, and even there you still have problems (fan reaction, team reputation, revenue, etc). You've also got massive egos in play on that front so it can get personal. Mind you, I do accept that there are "fire sales" in order to build for the future, but even those have consequences. They don't exactly guarantee success either. Poorly run teams often just wind up in the same circumstance a few years down the road. Sorry gus, but my tinfoil hat just hasn't fit me for quite a while.
