Bobcats Trade Deadline Thread

Brian Windhorst of ESPN now "reaffirming" that Bobcats are one of two teams trying to trade for Pau Gasol. The other being the Suns.

*facepalm*

What are we trying to do??? Young? Old? Take on more salary? Create salary cap room?? We just seem all over the place.

I really hope Clifford has some input on a trade.

He has been around enough to know who can play and who cant, and how someone fits for him.

Gasol is 33 and getting hurt on and off now, WTF?

Josh Smith I may be ok on, there is no guarantee that if we have a ton of cap space that we could sign someone like Stephenson so I go back and forth on my feelings about that.

But the Caron Butler, Gasol stuff I don't know.  I wouldn't trade away assets for guys that age.  Also, we really need a consistent shooting guard.

I can see looking to upgrade PF, but all the SF talk I'm not sure that is where the focus should be, SG or PF in my opinion.

I've said it before that I would love Paul Gasol. Even though, Gasol is a bit older he's still playing at a high level. He still got a good 2-3 years left. A front court of Gasol and Jefferson would be hard for any team to defend in the Playoffs. That's the best shot of us beating the Pacers or Heat.

Im just confused, probably more pissed by what the Front Office is doing. They're all over the place. We've been linked to like a dozen names already. Make me feel like they're just trying to make a move to sell more tickets (fans) than actually trying to win. I'm sick of this crap.

I pretty much dont want any of the guys we've been linked to. The Butler/Neal thing made sense to me because we wouldn't lose a first rounder and wouldn't need to commit much money.

I just hope Cho walks up in the office and starts bitch slapping some idiots and making some calls.

Gasol isn't worth a first round pick like LA is asking. I wouldn't take Gasol from them with out getting their first back. Unprotected first at that.

The MOST I would give would be Ben Gordon and Ports 1st.

Still probably wouldn't.

Ben Gordon and Sessions for Gasol and Steve Blake might would work.

Its valuable to them because it frees them up a lot of cap space for the summer.

Still don't want to send any picks.

I wouldn't send the Portland pick or a second rounder in 2929. The only way I would take Gasol and his contract is he was packaged with their 2014 first round pick.

    • Honestly, I have only one pair of white shoes (only because they were new and like $4 from the Goodwill) other than my easily-cleaned Crocs. A man's got to think ahead.
    • Down to Carolina and Washington for Ehlers.
    • Who are your top three breakout candidates for next season?    My three: Jatavion Sanders- Simply put he is the best receiving TE we have had since Olsen. We all saw his potential over that three game stretch prior to his neck injury where he showed a real connection with Bryce. Good route runner with glue for hands, limited blocking upside but he gives solid effort. With Tremble already being hurt I don’t see a reason why he already isn’t our starter and clear future at TE. Trevin Wallace- For a developmental LB forced into a starting role last year he  exceeded expectations. LB is one of the hardest positions to adjust to from college, and for a prospect who was widely regarded as very raw, surprisingly he was solid in coverage and only had an 11.9% missed tackle rate. He was overly aggressive consistently, and needs to work on his play recognition. But he is set up to be our best LB next season, and likely starter for years ahead. Even barring reaching his upside, his floor was clearly a lot higher than draft pundits assumed(Morgan can scout LBS). Cade Mayes- I am hopeful Cade wins the starting job at C this season. He may have been our most improved player last season, he looked like an above average starting C after he took over for an injured Corbett. He allowed 0 sacks on 327 pass block snaps. Corbett can not stay healthy, and at this stage in his career Mayes is objectively the better player. Mayes is only 26 and gives us the potential of stability at C, something we have never had since Ryan Kalil retired. Corbett slots in as a great backup C/Guard, and Cade continues to develop and gain more chemistry with Bryce and our stud duo of Hunt/Lewis.
