Barry Switzer would 'never recruit a white quarterback'

I want you to tell me . What derailment if you call someone a racist then I would like to know why.

Again, he was fired from CBS for making racists statements. Here's one of them to make it a little bit more clear for you.

"The black is a better athlete to begin with because he's been bred to be that way, because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into his back, and they can jump higher and run faster because of their bigger thighs and he's bred to be the better athlete because this goes back all the way to the Civil War when during the slave trade … the slave owner would breed his big black to his big woman so that he could have a big black kid …"  _Dimetrios Georgios Synodinos aka Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder

...and?    that doesn't make him a racist.  Just as what you said to me doesn't make you a jerk it just came out that way.

Are you sure about that? You gotta give your receivers a second chance to get open sometimes. Those physically gifted WRs are going against other physically gifted defensive players, you can't expect them to always be able to create separation in less than 3 second.

I mean it wouldn't hurt if he was more mobile and they may have made a few more plays if he could have avoided a sack, but there's only so much getting open you can do without sending guys further downfield (and actually targeting them, not just having them run decoy routes). I don't remember seeing the Broncos attempt a single deep pass all game. Maybe I'm forgetting one or two but generally they just ran the same short crossing routes again and again. Denver's WRs made great plays after the catch for most of the season (which is where the physical talent comes in), but Seattle's defense did a great job of wrapping them up and tackling them immediately after the catch.

hate to break it to you but Cam isnt nearly as quick and shifty as Wilson is.

wilson doesn't have the wiggle cam has. cam has the ability to juke a defender to his knees in the open field, wilson doesn't do that too often.

To Switzer's defense the NFC was overly represented in the playoffs the last couple years with very young dual threat QBs. On the other hand the AFC, because of its lack of dual threat QBs, by default was overwhelmingly represented by the traditionals. Which begs the question, were the traditionals better or were they just, well, traditionals. Traditions do change however.

The NFC was overrepresented by teams with great defenses which drug their teams to the playoffs despite limited passing offenses.

Seattle finished 1st in total defense.

Carolina finished 2nd in total defense.

San Francisco finished 5th in total defense.

Conversely:

Seattle finished 26th in passing.

Carolina finished 29th in passing.

San Francisco finished 30th in passing.

But I suppose, by your ludicrous reasoning, these teams made the playoffs primarily because of the talents of their QB's.

Here is a better question:

Would Denver, which finished 19th in total defense, have made the playoffs with either Kapernick or Wilson  at QB???

Maybe. But until one of them takes his team to the playoffs without a great defense, it is an open question.

After all Kaepernick has never passed for 3200 yards in a season.

Wilson has never passed for 3400 yards in a season.

Can you win consistently in the NFL without a great defense with those kinds of numbers???

I suppose your real point must be something along these lines: If Seattle and Denver traded QB's, then Denver would suddenly be better than Seattle because Wilson is better than Manning. Ludicrous? Yes.

Incidentally, my take on the ceiling for white quarterbacks is, oh,  somewhere around the Joe Montana level.

Seattle's offense did put up 35 (44-9=35) points in the SB. Seattle's offense is no slouch. They went through injury period throughout the year but when they're healthy, which they were in the SB, they'll put up 50, easy. Yes, Wilson only threw for 3400, how many did he rush for? I'm sure you know rushing yards move the chain too. How many time Peyton throws a 4 yard slant that goes for 50? A lot. And it counts as a 50 yards completion. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Tom Br4dy made his reputation winning SBs with great D. Unless it only counts when white QBs do it, right? What about Eli's 2 SBs? No, SBs ever won where the defense didn't stop the other team. Now you want to put a face to the defense. I thought it used to be QB X 'win SB'. Now it's 'Russell Wilson with great D win SB'. How hypocritical.

I think Peyton was sacked maybe once in the game. The threat of the rush and the prospect of getting hit intimidate him because he's not used to it. If he were able to evade the rush Seattles' secondary wouldn't be able to cover their receivers for too long. The fact that they didn't have to worry about Peyton's leg made it easier to play coverage. Seattle's toughest opponents the last couple of years have been with teams with mobile QBs. It's no coincidence. I remember Justin Tuck saying himself how much easier it is playing against Drew Brees than RG3. If the mobile QBs couldn't throw the football I would agree pocket QBs are better. But when the mobile QBs are just as accurate we all need to admit the obvious instead of waiting 5-10 years from now to do so. I do understand that because there is the semblance of a racial component to it many get into their protective pasture, but no one is arguing there can't be white dual threat QBs here. Mobile QBs are young and unestablished, and there will be many faces to them in the coming future.

    • I will dislike losing Necas but if we can unload KK too, that would be worthwhile. It gives us a ton of flexibility moving forward.
