Anyone an ESPN insider? I'm interested in who McShay has us picking in his Mock 3.0. ***Beware the Lions***

I am sitting here contemplating reinstating my ESPN Mag account to become an Insider again. But I still have probably a half dozen Mags that I haven't read. Anyway...anyone know who McShay has us taking?  I may not know who he has mocked to us, but I can tell you that he has Mike Evans going to the Lions. The Lions.

Imagine: Calvin Jonson  split right, Mike Evans split left, and 6'6" Kris Durham in the slot.

If you want to take it a step further...imagine Cap or White...

Whoa!

Detroits economy should be booming in no time now that they've successfully cloned a 6'5" WR

So Stafford will have Evans and Megatron.

Dear God can you imagine.

And don't underestimate Kris Durham in the middle probably devouring the leftovers.

And we may re-sign Munnerlyn, and we're bringing in Jason Verrett.  I don't really want Munchkins book-ending our backfield. Perhaps Munnerlyn would be the Nickel guy, but so what in that type of scenario.

I don't know how I feel about Brandon Browner, but he is on the radar.  Hopefully Melvin White makes a leap in the off-season. I just don't know about anyone else.  Perhaps we can get McGill or Jean-Baptiste in the draft. Just thinking of us dealing with the Bears and the Evans-empowered-Lions gives me some anxiety.  At this point, our pass rush would be our only saving grace.

If a no2 wr is that big of a problem in Detroit, why not just go sign Nicks?

WR is not the problem. How can you not win games with probably the all time no2 best receiver to ever play this game?

Detroit's problem is defense and not being balanced enough offensively.

Passing league this, passing league that. Cut that crap out. At the end of the day, the teams that can run the ball (balanced offense) and plays defense win.

I fundamentally agree with you, but the Lions figure that they have enough to push the envelope right now.  They hired what many people consider to be a solid, if not good, coach.  They have a solid defense, but for some weaknesses in the secondary.  CC, they think that they can win NOW, and with the pieces that they have in place they could be right.  If Evans is still sitting their at number 10, and you know that you already have Stafford, Megatron and Bush locked up for a few years---and you can add another potential 6'5" beast into the mix---then picking Evans becomes real easy.

I know right? That's a beast of a line up. Don't forget they have rookie 6'7" Joseph Fauria as a weapon as well.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
