So what now at LT?

I wonder if Kugzilla is working out somewhere this year or if he just works out at the stadium. Dude is a mystery. Norris doesn't like him at all.

Norris doesn't know him at all.  Very few analysts actually spent much, if any, time evaluating Kugbila leading up to the draft.  That's why he was so off their radar, and why they were shocked when we picked him.  But word at the time was that he was much higher rated on many team boards than many think.  And because he only had like one practice with us, nobody has since learned anything new.  So guys like Norris are just basing their assumptions on their own limited knowledge about him plus the fact that he got injured so early, which reinforced their incomplete impressions.

Also, nothing gets a fan base talking like saying some disparaging things about a guy that the fans really hope will pan out.  So Norris was only stirring the pot and riling up our fans.

At this point, we may just have to hope all the LT needy teams above us in the draft sign their guy, and someone falls to 28.

Hoping and praying for a miracle at the left tackle position (where even top overall picks struggle out of the gate) would cause me to lose all faith in DG, RR, and JR. Fortunately I trust their plan is more solid than that.

Guess Oher is the best name left! But he played RT, I'm just disappointed that we didn't go after one of these top guys, if we snag one of those the loss of Gross isn't as bad, but anything else is a huge drop off, which risky.

He was their LT up until this past season if I'm not mistaken. He protected Flaccos blind side when they won the super bowl so it's good enough for me. He's not our best option but given our situation I'd take him

We will depend heavily on the run this season and it would be better to get the guy we really like at LT than to lose a top-5 DE and cornerstone of our franchise because we panic.

We have a lots of guys on the practice squad to evaluate as well that could make a jump as well.

Here are the OLinemen on our roster

It's not like we have nothing to work with we just haven't needed anyone to step up. I'm not gonna write all these players off because it's an insult to them and why would they be on the team if they weren't football players.

We have the draft and the rest of FA to get the line together. I'm optimistic that we will still compete for the division with who we are gonna have.

Got this off a poster in another topic, I saw this on twitter myself, if this doesn't worry you now I don't know what will, that's pretty much all the elite tackles gone and the prices aren't even as high as I'd imagined they would be, so unless there's a whole bunch of guys I have missed out on seeing in the OT FA lists, were gona go for a rookie from the draft to play at LT or use a guy on our roster?

Slightly worrying? no way the top three tackles drop to #28 in my opinion, the next three rated highly are Moses, Koumandijo, Richardson but are they really starters? There good prospects but with injury issues and two of those graded second rounders I just don't know if I'm comfortable with us not taking one of these top free agent tackles to replace Jordan and protect Cams blindside, I mean LT is the second biggest role on the roster?

THE Mr. Aaron Wilson recently put up an article about Eugene Monroe's contract negotiations with the Ravens, but also adds more information from his sources for the rest of the OL market.

Quote

Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Branden Albert is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins for an average of $9.5 million annually.

St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Rodger Saffold is expected to sign with the Oakland Raiders for roughly $8 million per year, but he is still in talks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Jared Veldheer is expected to sign with the Arizona Cardinals for between $7 million and $7.5 million.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Anthony Collins is expected to sign with the Buccaneers for between $6.5 million to $7 million provided that he doesn't re-sign with the Bengals.

We may have a rookie RT but not a LT.  They're going to move Bell to LT at the very least.

And that's my point! Everyone saying wait til The draft, we aren't going to draft a starting LT anyone who thinks we are is dumb, there's three elite LT, Robinson, Matthews and Lewan, non will drop to #28, you can give me the fug about Star dropping to #14 but for one of those to fall all the way to us is highly unlikely.

Ok so you could say with the signings made in FA why would these teams now draft another possible LT? They don't have too they can plug in the guy at RT gives them tremendous depth knowing they have drafted a guy who can play both LT & RT, honestly guys we needed to snag one of these FA tackles, Michael Oher got moved from LT that doesn't sound good to me.

Only option left for me is to trade up for one I the top three guys, LT is the second most important position on the team and you can't expect to get away with a band aid at that position.

Have we learned nothing? We will get a lower tier kind of guy to play LT. Half of us will have never heard of him. We're going to draft some OT's and hopefully that mix of players will keep Cam from being murdered. Who knows, it might end up great for us like Mitchell and ginn. However, there is a bigger margin for error with safety and receiver than LT. Hope Tolbert is working on his chip blocking skills.
