the reason behind all of this BS happening is...

I didn't say that.

You said you were done blaming Hurney, and yet it is Hurney's BS that Gettlemen is trying to fix. Hurney still deserves a lot of the blame for the crap we are going through now. Maybe Gettleman could have handle SS differently, yes, but we don't know what has been said behind closed doors and maybe SS forced the route DG has taken.

Blaming Hurney is the easy thing to do. I don't think Gettleman stands around all day making him the scapegoat like we do.

I don't see why it has to be done this year, there are plenty of other options in order to free up cap space...

We could restructure CJ

Extend/Trade Hardy

Extend Olsen

June 1st cute Godfrey

Those moves would open up at least 15 million cap for this year

The way I see it, we should keep Smitty this year and cut him next year, just in time to extend Cam's contract

Hardy to Oakland is seeming more and more plausible seeing as they are probably gonna lose Houston, gonna miss out on the Revis sweepstakes, and probably also lose Veldheer... Unless Gettleman is gonna make a splash signing that no one expects, I don't like how this situation is being handled

Yeah, well, you said yesterday that Gettleman wasn't responsible for 12-4. You can't have it both ways.

I don't recall posting such a thing, but what exactly is your point? He was in charge, he made the moves, why wouldn't he be responsible for last years record? Dave Gettleman doesn't need any of these built in excuses. He's his own man. That's what I'm saying.

The biggest thing about Steve Smith (the NFL really) is that you have to separate the emotion from the business.

The NFL is a business and as fans we're emotional about everything, especially the greatest player to ever don the Panthers jersey.

But at the end of the day when that player has his best days in the rear view mirror and is getting paid in a way that makes it difficult to run the franchise you have to make the tough decisions. I don't envy Gettleman and the flak he's going to get if Smitty is cut but sometimes things like this have to be done.

It doesn't make it any easier but plenty of great players before Smitty have had to leave their teams unceremoniously and he won't be the last.

There aren't always story book endings in the NFL.

Except that it isn't.

1 draft and 1 off season to fix 10+ of horrendous trades and contracts.

Going into his 2nd now there is much left over to deal with that is not of his own making...easy?...more like the smart/rational thing to do is realize what is what. We are still in Hurney's mess and will be until next year is over.

Let's see if Gman can't replace 750 yards and 4 TDs.....

If anything his biggest mistake is not replacing Shula.

Ive said it since yesterday and it continues to rear its head. You NEVER EVER see this happen. Sorry, im on the fire gettleman bandwagon. Should've never signed hardy. I hope tolbert can play guard. There is something else up and I think old dave is low balling everyone or telling them to hit the road.

Again, I did not say that he had to fix everything in one offseason.

Also, yet again, this is much more than simply replacing yards, and touchdowns.

Nobody seems to fuging understand this isnt a business decision. Its personal. Cutting or trading saves us a six pack of beer.
