I mean Saturday was good, but having Peyton Manning as a QB with such a quick release couldn't hurt. I like Kalil, however with his future cap hit I just don't see him staying with out a pay cut. Just good business Kalil is not part of the future plans.

that is just nonsensical.

Says who?  The guy well be 30 yrs old when his contract is up.   While I don't see him getting the big money at center for a second time, I do see us keeping him for an additional 3 or 4 years.

This isn't always about money.    If you base everything on the money you will never get anywhere.  You have to be smart and know who to pay and who not to pay.  Gettleman knows the importance of Kalil and will do everything possible to keep him.

Look I don't deny how good Kalil is & a good center with good technique can usually have a pretty lengthy career. The way Gettleman is trying so hard to get out from under all of Hurneys bad contracts & with the future core players of the team coming up I just don't see him being around that much longer. He cost to much maybe with a pay cut, but if we take a center this year his days are numbered.

What a really dumb argument. Kalil plays 100% of the offensive snaps. JJ (who I am glad we have) plays less then 2 or 3%.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I consider Kalil a core player as well along with many of the others mentioned above.

I was just including J.J. because he may not play many snaps but the ones he does play are vitally important.

An inconsistant long snapper can lose a game all by himself.

(I suppose I am kinda dumb though)

i'm hoping for a morgan moses/allen robinson/brandon thomas first 2 days.

moses would start in 2014 and brandon thomas would replace bell in 2015.

our 2015 line could possibly be:

moses/silatolu/kalil/kugbila/thomas

I tend to agree with you. I consider him a special teams core player. Fortunately he doesn't get paid like a core player. Long snapper is one of those positions that doesn't get a lot of attention until the ball sails over the punters head and is picked up for a td.

Agreed that he could lose the game all by himself.  No doubt.  We have been fortunate to have a couple good long snappers in our history.  But honestly, how many games a year does the long snapper actually cost someone a game.  Most of these guys are good and quite accurate.

Your core players are the players you can't live without.   As much as we don't want to we could find a replacement for JJ.
