so again i ask how much cap room does it saves us. but arent you the guy who said we were 8mil under when we were only under 3. something when olsen and kalil resturctured???
He did have 1.4 x 3 left cap hit wise in signing bonus money. Thats 4.2 million total.(this is now dead money)
He had a base salary of 2.9 million and a 100k workout bonus taking it to 3 million total in salary plus the 1.4 million in signing bonus allocation for a total of 4.4 million.
So as an immediate hit it saves us $200k (4.4. cap hit - 4.2 dead money) or as a June 1st cut we can split the 4.2 over 2 years. If split evenly thats a savings of 2.1 million this year and 2.1 million dead next year.
Never said that, and you don't have to take my word for it. Go read the cba or tweet Gantt or something.
i believe you did but i could be mistaken. i was just looking for the quick answer. so long story short if he is designated as a june 1st cut we save 2mil in cap space after june 1st and 200k now. is this correct?
they needed to get better at that position with emergence of tight ends(tonyg and jimmyg) that can catch. also they sucked vs the run badly.
olb have to be able to run and cover.
they need to get younger at the position.
True, I forgot to include the bonuses on this years salary. Than it makes a lot more sense.
Thanks.
Yes and Yas just put it up on his nfcsouth espn blog as well too. Same exact thing I said if you want an official source.
i wonder what else happened this morning
"Hello, Garry Williams? this is Dave Gettlemen..."
"Hello Jeff Hangartner? Dave Gettlemen here...."
Agreed. I think he's decided to just take his lumps this year. He isn't tied to Rivera and if releasing a bunch of guys will cripple our cap this year, but set it up for the future, what does he care?
Was just going to start a thread on this. Technically I think the next move will be announcing a Gross restructure then cutting 1 or both of those guys.
They are the last 2 logical cuts that could be made. I only forsee one going. Do we keep Hangman who can play guard and center or Williams who can play guard and tackle?
My money says Hangman goes and Willliams stays.
I hope so. But this move do make me guess if Gettleman and Rivera knows a bit more to Beason's health. Wonder if Beason is doing well in his rehab.
I thought you could designate a limited number of early cuts as June 1st cuts. Is there something to suggest they did not do this?
Ah hopefully so.
We need the cap next year with Hardy etc so no need to have 2 plus mil in dead money next year.
Exactly.
Either way this is a solid move.
