I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. If you drop back like that in the NFL on a regular basis you're basically on your own. Your OL can't do a whole lot for you. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of generating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.

cam Newton makes his return to Madden football

Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks. -
Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam. Hope that's clearer for you.

He was here for the 24 draft and bragging about the pick people dislike the most. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2024/06/17/panthers-brandt-tillis-jonathon-brooks-2024-nfl-draft/74132284007/ "There were a few players on the board who we liked. Brooks was by far a (or our) number one guy"

We cut Teddy because he outed an unfit coaching staff as unfit. checkdown Teddy Bridgewater plays like Brett Favre compared to BY
-
I mean, reality says he can’t. factually is he is indeed horrible downfield 3 of 13 with an INT. Thats reality. the counter argument that you and ace make….is all what if and excuses and imaginary plays happening that didn’t. and every year we have this convo and at some point a washed Dalton with step on the field and go downfield in a manner not seen from Bryce with the exact weapons
-
What is his role in evaluating talent? I honestly don’t know. Is he the big PFF guy? I know he does the salaries
-
His play style isn’t what’s needed and he’s slow to get off the time. Watching some of these all 22 clips and there’s once again a massive lack of speed on the field. 3rd year in a row I’ve said from day 1 Bryce needs route runners. He’s had one pure route runner and he turned Thielen into a 1000 yard receiver. At age 35. The Panthers drafted Young to be a “point guard” and proceeded to give him the exact opposite of what he’s needed. It would sure be nice to have a deep threat as well. Something Bryce had at Bama

cam Newton makes his return to Madden football

I'm the same and I just gave up on it years ago. I expect the new sale to make it a worse fall into making bigger revenue streams and that's not going to be offline franchise. -
Renfrow for being a role player has been 100% fine. Heck he should have at least 4 TDs. Bryce Young just can’t throw the ball. When he does look Renfrows way and he is open it’s almost always just a bad throw. Renfrow also has been out there setting great picks like the big play to TMac, getting Bryce Young horrible turnovers wiped etc. You could literally already make a highlight real of bad throws to him by Bryce and none of that is pimping Renfrow. It just highlights Bryce fails at basics over and over every week without fail

Way to deflect and not answer the question
-
And to think we had both of those qbs.....
-
Its interesting to discuss but don't pretend the state of the team has anything to do with fans enjoying a win instead of acting like they are solving anything
-
Olsen wasn't here and I am pretty sure Steve Smith was pretty fu*!ing good before Cam. Ask Delhomme.
-
We paid Bridgewater 60 million and cut his ass after 1 season because he didn’t have the arm talent to operate the offense. Only difference is Teddy wasn’t Tepper’s little pet project.

The Dowdle Mirage - Play Calling Problems
tukafan21 replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Being happy about a win isn't giving up on them, but when people say things like, "we should just be happy after a win given how bad we've been the last 10 years", that's being happy regardless of how we looked because we don't get a lot of wins, which is straight up loser mentality. And that's my point, 95% of the people happy about this win are also saying those kind of things. I'm not upset that we won, I'm upset that we still didn't look good in key areas, namely play calling, if you can't see the difference between those things, then that's a you problem, not a me problem. This win does NOTHING for us into the future, which is why it's hard for me to get exited over a win against another horrible team where we still didn't look good outside of a few big runs by Rico. Trust me, if we turned some corner and looked great with Canales calling a great game to keep the Dolphins guessing wrong all day, then yea, I'd be on here celebrating it up, but that's not close to what happened. -
Tremayne is a better WR than Young is a QB. Why make so many excuses for Young and not Tremayne?
-
Dak is gonna throw for 800 yards on us.
-
Would you like to remind everyone how the majority of those guys looked when Pickles was under center in 2010?

cam Newton makes his return to Madden football
LinvilleGorge replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I've always just been an offline franchise mode type of guy and EA just doesn't care at all about people like me anymore because there's no ongoing revenue stream for them out of people like me. I honestly play the older games more simply because the offline franchise mode was better in those games. From a pure business model perspective I completely get it. But it just sucks for people like me who have no interest in the online stuff and just fire the game up every now and then, usually to get my off-season football fix. I'd be more than happy to give them $60 every year for a game with good offline franchise mode updated but minus that I'll just keep playing the old games and buy last year's game at a discount every two or three years to give a "new" one a shot. -
PFF has and always will be trash until they disclose their bs grading system. See if you can find me a highlight of Bryce hitting a receiver in stride down the sideline with more than 25+ air yards.
-
LOL. Yeah Steve Smith, Brandon LaFell, Jonathan Stewart, Deangelo Williams and Greg Olsen were all trash till Cam got here to elevate their game. I liked Cam but lets be honest here. His strength was him being a two threat QB. At least for his first 4 years
-
Cam had no choice. Just like Bryce has no choice but to throw to whatever a brycen Tremayne is Ginn was a one trick pony and his strength played into Cams strength as a passer. It was a good fit. Much like Adam Thielen’s route running ability plays into Young’s strength which is anticipation Young turned a 35/36 Adam Thielen into a very productive WR again and now that he’s back in Minnesota he’s no where to be seen
-
Yes, of course I want the team to be competitive week in and out. In what world does being happy about our team winning a game = completely giving up on the franchise? That makes no sense.
