Yeah I think we are long term trouble there. Their QB came in and looked like an NFL QB right off the bat. Ours takes yearly baby steps towards that.

That should be the perception, I agree.

Time Traveler from 2005 Goes to the Hornets Game

Yeah, he sounds like Mickey Mouse. Super annoying. -
With these current kickoff rules, seems like we are getting a lot more returns. Whereas for a few seasons the KR was pretty devalued I guess you could say, with all the touchbacks. So I didnโt really complain about it. I believe they might have brought that position back a little now with encouraging the ball be kicked to a place it can be returned. So treat the KR as a true weapon, not just a sure handed fair catcher.

Now they making a big deal about him punching at Hugo at the end of the game...just lol

It is time to Consider the Likelihood of WR at #19
strato replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Seems obvious to me that we should get that kind of a guy, we donโt really have one. And the best WR in our 30 year history was a guy like that. The best tandem we had was that guy and a big long strider in Moose. -

A speed receiver that can return kicks and a safety that can play nickel. We are looking to fill holes with guys that have multiple skill sets. Smart, if you can find/get them. -

We've needed a true returner for a long time. We seem content to throw whoever back there. Returning kicks is a craft that is heavily undervalued here even though it can greatly impact a game. Devin Hester was feared for a reason. It's a lot easier to drive 40 yards than 75. -
2026 Win predictions from DraftKings

Iโm not mad about 7.5, but TB at 8.5 and the other two teams tied with us is ludicrous. We should be at least a game higher than the rest of those scrubs. We won the division, we got better, TB and Atl got worse, NO is NO. -

We need that twitchy slot guy that can just go. -
I'm not saying he doesn't, just that he's gotten a lot of flack on this board for not devoting himself to his craft and focusing on his social media presence. It was more just an observation of how he gets ripped on, and Bryce, who's openly said he isn't going to address footwork problems, gets crickets. Greatness is never satisfied. I'd like to see some Luke level of devotion again.

I would hope so. It has been years of the cookie cutter physique - obsession with long stride long armed taller guys. -

Yeah believe they are interested in TE Oscar Delp (UGA) or TE Justin Joly (NC) -
The 50/50 aspect seemed obvious. But that is not at all how they were using him. I didnโt understand that. Maybe, just maybe, Bevell will see something they can do with him that these other geniuses have missed. I think it does go back to the QB though, and question whether he was willing to go the 50/50 route.

Cam made a good point about XL posting his offseason workout videos last year and was making fun of the jerky movements in running routes and grunting. He said something to the effect of that's all fine and good, but can I depend on you? Will you be where I need you to be? Will you get off of coverage, will you catch the passes that come your way, will you fight to get open? He has been doing the wrong kind of prep. His lack of production comes from the mental side. He needs to study, differentiate his routes, communicate with Bryce on route options/preferences, get reps with his QB, and stop making mental errors on the field. The guy is a tremendous athlete, but if he wants to be a better receiver, he needs to maximize the mental side. I heard he was working out with Bryce this offseason. That's a good start. If I remember correctly, he didn't do that last year.

It is time to Consider the Likelihood of WR at #19

Boston would mean we would have three very similar receivers: Tet, Coker, and Boston. More likely we take a shifty slot guy. -

Pat Kirwan made an interesting point when discussing TE vs. slot for Panthers needs in the draft. He basically said the Panthers suck at punt and kickoff return as well as the TE position and slot wr's can often fill the role of punt and kick off returner, especially if we get a good one. I guess that depends on how we think of Trevor Etienne in those roles. Also talked about the depth of wr vs. lack of depth of te in the draft. I think te falls off pretty far after Delp or the Vandy kid. -
