Opinion Every touchdown he threw yesterday were pin point money passes. He's had several passes this season that have been money shots.
-
He really isn’t. He’s one of the worst I’ve ever seen at it. People like to whine about drops but most of the times receivers get a finger on the ball and someone screeches it was a drop it’s because it was way high, low, behind, ahead of, anywhere other than placed well. That includes these screens and dump offs. He just happened to throw this one well.

Tbe started following T-Mac favorite for Offensive ROTY.

Hard to pull off a 200 yard game when your QB throws the ball 10 yards downfield only twice in a game. Apples and oranges. Bryce can throw a ball negative yards downfield and be gifted a 50 yard TD on the stat sheet. Doesn’t work like that for a WR reality is, a sane team would have enough info that BY and XL shouldn’t be thought of as the future but things to replace. But you must of got drunk a got a regrettable Bryce Young tattoo or something
-
As my daughter says that OA. Bryce is pretty good at ball placement.
-
I think the issue is that being a player that lacks a lot of fundamentals isn't going to fit just about anywhere. He's a project player being given two seasons worth of starting opportunities. That was stupid in the first place. He shouldn't have been drafted where he was to start with and if we did pick him up where he should have been drafted(4th round or later) then he should be developing largely on the bench. Sort of like Horn, Tremayne, etc. Down the depth chart so we can have an impactful and productive player playing.

I am not to the point of moving him yet, unless there is a valid replacement. I think that is something we need to move forward with. Once he reaches the Adonai Mitchell point of basically being pushed down the depth chart, then I would say to move him. -
In 24 career starts he has had at least 55 yards receiving 4 times. He has never had a 100 yard receiving game yet. For Terrace Marshall Jr, he has had 17 career starts and also has accomplished this 4 times. Never has a 100 yard receiving game. For Jonathan Mingo, he has had 20 career starts and also has accomplished this 3 times. Never has a 100 yard receiving game. For Devin Funchess, he had 41 career starts and also has accomplished this 17 times. He has had 2 100 yard receiving games. I can keep going or isolate for Carolina only, if you want. My overall point being that XL has been remarkably ineffective while having tremendously more opportunities to produce than most of the other bust WR's that he resembles in our franchise history. For all the Bryce excuses that get thrown out, this guy gets the #2 spot on that list. There is no excuse for him being as bad as he has been, while other WR's with as many or less opportunities in his same situation are producing better.

Including Bryce 9/10 times

I’ve been talking about the Panthers and putting things that don’t fit together for so many years at this point. Fit is more than half the battle in the NFL. Yet here we are acting confused.

Let's hope XL has a good agent that can find another NFL team willing to trade for him in the off season. -

I liked Adam Thielen lots when he was here but that time has passed. I like the Panthers present youth move at WR, and cannot see him fitting in. However, I am wishing good luck to Thielen, no matter where he winds up. -
No, it was a response regarding patience for xl vs bryce. 448 yards bought bryce some patience. Receiving equivalent would be 200 yards.

Right now, XL is probably outside the top 100 NFL WR's. That is just not going to cut it. He certainly could turn it around but our track record in this area is very well established. When our WR's bust, boy do they bust. XL looks exactly like so many of those cases. XL has been the 9th most productive WR in that 2024 class and is likely to slip to 10th very soon as one of the guys who missed a large chunk of last season is about to pass him(Pearsall) in career production. That's not great for the 7th overall WR picked. It's a disappointment, without question. Even a the guy getting healthy scratches has still outperformed him so far. And, for the record, it was a very, very productive WR class so far. -
4th read? On a playaction? Do you not watch the ALL 22? There were 4 receivers on that play. Only 2 went beyond 2 yards on a 10 yard crossing route in front of a single high safety. The TE stayed in to block before releasing on a drag route and was never a read. Coker was motioned to the right to pull a defender to the sideline. This was a clear flat route and hot if the defender came on a blitz. The RB stayed in to block on the right side. Coming out of the playaction Bryce spots the defender for a possible blitz and then goes to his primary receiver on his left. The only receiver on the left coming out of the playaction was TMac. He clearly follows TMac to the cross in front of the safety and looks off the safety to the left. This is not a read to XL. It's looking off the safety. He swings his vision back to his primary in TMac and throws the ball to the numbers (20) 10 yards over the head of the DB when TMac reaches the right hashes near the 30 yard line before TMac even makes a cut. Bryce was never leading or throwing to the receiver. He was throwing to a spot based on the movement of 2 defenders. It was up to TMac to make this play happen with perfect timing, release, sell and cut on his route. Give credit to the play design. The defense is playing that route as a sideline route and TMac makes it happen with his body position and control as he cuts/drifts 10 yards up field to the spot he knew it was going to before the play. If that were a 4th progression read out of a playaction, you'd see 4 hitch steps and the receiver would have been led to the sideline as TMac would have never known the ball was going to be thrown 10 yards over the DBs head on a 10 yard cross to the sideline. You can also tell this is the desgin as Bryce sets to the left out of the playaction with XL on his right before the cross. Then he takes 3 bounce steps to move with the pocket as XL is late to the cross. His first hitch step is to the right after TMac crosses, which is followed by an immediate throw before a cut is made by TMac. TMac was the only receiver to the left on Bryce's set, and he was one of 2 WRs to the right on Bryce's first and only hitch step. Give TMac and the play design a bulk of the credit. Bryce did well, but he didn't sell the playaction or a possible pass to XL very well. He did do very well at throwing to a predetermined spot on the field after TMac set up that crossing route perfectly with XL and Sanders both late on developing their routes. Did you catch all that on the play? For some reason, you think there were 4 progressions out of play action with the defense pressing, Bryce setting his hips to the left with all 3 receivers on the right side of what you think was his 4th option as the only receiver on the left at the snap, and only 1 hitch step to the right after TMac waits for XL to cross left. Why would you think a QB would set their hips to the left when their first 3 progressions are on the right side of the field?
-
Agreed, however there are many QBs that don't place it perfectly.
-
I know people don’t like him because, last year he did not make a catch vs Philly. Because he didn’t get a foot in on a catch so no catch because twice that I know of he went OB and did not establish himself once back IB. Whatever that means. Because they wanted Ladd. But go back and look at every one of his targets this year and see where the ball that is intended for him, is.
-
Yeah it was a great throw, but also, he's an NFL quarterback lol we should expect this regularly
-
Bryce might be the most frustrating player we've ever had.
kungfoodude replied to OneBadCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
12 Mil would literally be the 6th highest paid center in the NFL. He is a backup. He is on a $3.4 mil deal and his utility might get him slightly more than that with us specifically but that's about it. If someone wants to pay him $6-8 mil, I would let him walk in an absolute heartbeat. For that price, get one of the good free agent centers available. Or, just simply draft another utility lineman. I like Mays well enough and would love to keep him but he isn't a long term starter and we shouldn't be paying him like one. Ikey I am honestly unsure of the market on him. It could be wild or it could be less painful. Given what we have had to pay Brown and Horn recently, I suspect the Panthers bump means we need to open up the pocket book. That will hurt, no question about it. The QB I hope they just throw some darts at the board and not go bananas. But the situation has to be improved. -

Yea I think you know my feelings on XL and you are right the number of WR misses recently and even in the past by the Panthers is truly among the highest mistakes. Again XL doesn't have to be a #1, that's Tmac and I think he's already there.....Just be a 16th ranked #2 guy, he should be able to do that....but it is getting past time. Bring XL into all the OTAs, mini, and TC and have the "talk"......."Listen your panther career has come to a fork and we need results". If no improvement, trade/cut. Besides the guy nearly all us wanted- ladd..... the other drafted WRs around him are MUCH worst....Coleman has been a healthy scratch and not done much when active. Polk has already been traded or Id say given up on by Varbs and the pats....They got a 6th for Polk&7th, fodder at tits best. Maybe it was a bad year for WRs..... -

I'll take tremayne and his 12 rec 133 yards over at and his 8 rec and 69 yards. Add that we got paid basically a 4th for at and got a 9 year younger wr for free. -
I’m just old enough to have zero interesting in trying to wish players good… and it’s flat out entertaining watch the gymnastics on Bryce and engaging with those who do it. most things in life aren’t complicated. I’m not. Neither is figuring out Bryce is not why any NFL team actually wants
-
Imagine wanting your WR to have a 150-200 yard game with a QB who is averaging 181 yards per game.
-
So XL has to have a 200 yard game to be legitimate in your eyes? This is ridiculous expectation for any WR let alone a wr that has Bryce throwing to him. Somehow you want the wr to have more yards than Bryce
