Smitty goes off on CLT on WFNZ
Zaximus replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Cardinals game was crazy. Everyone with the facemasks with fangs on them. Night game too. The city is really ready to go crazy for a team I believe, we just can't get any kind of consistent results. Combined with the Hornets/Bobcats it's just giga depressing. -
I think his placement on deep balls is more often than not, just bad. When it comes to downfield balls, Bryce generally makes life hard. You actually don't need a cannon for the vertical stuff on the sidelines. Some of the best deep throwers really are just well placed lobs. . Now the deep middle? Yeah, I like a strong arm. Bryce never really sets up a WR to go get it. If you get in position and beat your guy he is going to turn it into a 50/50 letting the defender contest it or make you have to worry about staying in bounds.
-
We need a full scale tear-down and rebuild. Done properly this time. No more holdovers from the previous regime. If Morgan goes, Canales goes, all the scouts and front office personnel go and all the assistants go. Hire someone to actually consult and build an organization, not just put together a staff.
-
Well im sure some were drops if you look at each one. I'm not interested enough to look. It doesn't matter if he can throw it a mile at this point. He's just not an nfl qb.
-
I think the coaches don’t want opponents to see his limited range. I don’t think it’s a secret at this point though.
-
Every pass over 30 or more in his career has been incomplete if NexGen is correct. I don't think it is all on the coaches just not asking him enough.
-
I'm not saying he has a big arm. I'm saying he at least can chunck it 40 yards. Why we don't take more shots is a mystery.
-
In the nfl he hasn't thrown many at all. Thats on the coaches.
-
That was Frank's excuse after the game when he was asked about it. Young was visibly upset on the sideline and in his interview after the game. All he would say is the coach makes the decisions and he trusts the coaches. When asked about his shoulder he said he felt fine.
-
There's always going to be mistakes in the draft, it's a crapshoot in a lot of ways. Our problem isn't just bad drafting, though it's a big part of our problem. Don't oversimplify it. It seems like Tepper and his gang of clowns sit around and see if they can come up with new ways to fug up a football organization. We draft bad. We make bad decisions in FA. We give big money to the wrong players in house. We hire bad GMs and coaches. The scouts are either ignored or completely suck. There's not much of anything that we do right. It goes far beyond just the draft.
-
I’m suspicious of his arm for sure.
-
I can't find an incompletion over 44 yards. And I can't find a completion over 28. Not saying they don't exist but NextGen doesn't have anything greater for either on his passing charts. Bryce probably could get it 50 but like most big throws he makes he isn't going to make it unless he pretty much has enough time to get set
-
I think he's has some 40 yards in the nfl but they are rare. Under Frank he never had the time to throw one a majority of them. Under Canales I've yet to see one either. Whether it's Young or the play call is yet to be determined.
-
I have seen him do 45 yards I think. Not saying he can’t do more, that’s just what I remember seeing. I won’t need Canales’ input here. I never heard that story but Reich playing Bryce when he thought he hurt his shoulder does not make real good sense to me. I mean, he is okay to throw everything else and take hits but not to air one out? It isn’t a good play with him anyway. He’d drop 15 yards and have to do that run up to launch it and would probably get smacked by a defender.
-
You've seen Young throw a 50 yard air pass in the NFL? I cant remember one but I usually stop watching before the end of his games.
-
I only watch because it's free and I can do other things at home while it's on. Well that and I like to laugh.
-
Maybe, but a good QB knows where his check down is supposed to be. Young is a deer in headlights once the action starts.
-
It infuriates me when Canales touts players " Had a great week of practice" especially pertaining to Legette then proceeds to crap the bed on game day. Canales is so fugging lame. Their great practices don't mean poo if it doesn't translate to the field on Sundays I beat the table for Legette, boy was I sorely mistaken.
-
You would have to ask Canales. I'm guessing the 50 YL is the limit from all that I have watched of Young. Granted I have not seen every pass he's thrown. But I have seen him throw a couple that had that much air under it. One completed and one incomplete if my memory serves me accurately.
-
Winston would lose a ton of games here while being more fun to watch and setting records for INT's. A very clear middling backup QB is not the answer. You will never be able to break Jameis of his Favre-esque gunslinging. Many have tried, none have succeeded. As for not fuging up the draft? poo....we are many years into that. I don't expect that will change anytime soon.
-
So if no more designated thrower I guess the Hail Mary from outside of a certain YL just won’t be in the playbook. Of course it would piss Tepper off lol.
-
And the seat availability will only go up over time.
-
It wasn't a designated thrower. Reich decided to let Andy do it because he thought Bryce hurt his shoulder the weak before. It was the wrong decision then and it pissed Young and Tepper off. He should have let him throw it anyway, even if he thought he couldn't. It was another reason he got fired.
