Which side of the ball needs more help?

Why are we comparing Young to Darnold? -
Exactly. I heard that philosophy attributed to Reid back when he was still in Philadelphia. Nobody ever says ...."wow this team has a strong TE group they can compete with anyone" You win starting in the trenches. Everton team is always needing a lineman so if you are gifted with more than you need you have trade capital.

We've seen Bryce Young personally audible into some truly terrible plays even as recent as last year so this notion that he is significantly better at reading defenses doesn't exist within the realm of reality from my POV. He has not had a great deal of freedom within the structure of the offense for good reason. I would say he is average in football IQ. He isn't awful. But in no way shape or form was he or is he generational or top pick worthy in that aspect as he was billed predraft. Overall he is at best in the 22-25 range amongst all starting QB's and that is being generous. -

I am not arguing over statistics. Darnold was in the pro bowl Bryce wasn't. I'm not sure we watching the same games because when I watch them actually play Bryce decision making is usually pretty good to me. Even when he throws an int it's not a OMG wtf were you thinking pick. Darnold has those moments. And like I said we have seen Darnold here. If you plug him back in who is to say he doesn't look like Bryce or worse. Bryce limitations are tied to his physical ability to me. I think he sees it reads defense well but lacks the cannon to stretch the field or capitalize on what he sees. Add in a small frame and vision and he's limited... That doesn't take away from the fact I think I trust him more than Darnold reading defenses. Darnolds physical gifts have never been in question. He was the most talented QB of his class in terms of arm and ability. -
Our short yardage game was infuriating so anything they do to help improve that is welcomed

Sam Darnold had over 1k more passing yards than Bryce Young and Sam had 477 pass attempts to Bryce's 478. Read that back to yourself a couple of times and then wave the white flag brother. - Yesterday

What the Seahawks accomplished with a balanced roster and a dominant defense gives me hope for our Panthers. They are very well coached and very well run and it pains me to acknowledge that. Now while Darnold had plenty of help on both sides of the ball and he still had moments of vintage Darnold I think you are making too much of the mental aspect as if Bryce Young is a savant. He's never lived up to the superprocessor billing and he never will for what we gave up. And at the end of the day you can wax poetic about what Darnold may or may not lack between the ears but Darnold was 10th in passing yards per game while Bryce was 31st. We're never going to compete for a Super Bowl with that. -

I think Darnold is obviously good enough to get the job done.. but would he be without the best defense in the league? Darnold is the driver of a brand new Lamborghini and all the owner asks of him is just don't crash it into a ditch. He doesn't throw picks they win games. I think we ask more of Bryce than they do of Darnold and maybe we should since he was the number 1 pick. -

I think he is.Daronld more prone to panick ints. I don't hold my breath Everytime Bryce throws the ball. Bryce is a better processor and reading defenses definitely at this point in his career as opposed to where Darnold was. I think he's a better processor right now. Bryce has never had what Is Darnold has had at both stops as in an elite number 1. Tmac could get there but he's not in the same aid as Jackson Smith or Justin jefferson. I would trust Bryce to win me the game on the last drive before Darnold so I guess I believe he is more skilled than Darnold. We have seen Darnold here and his decision making under pressure wasn't nearly as good as Bryce. If it was he might still be here -

Let's keep it a hundred here. Say what you want about Darnold. He's had some truly horrendous games and some horrendous seasons in his early years. But not even he was oblivious enough afterwards to say he just wanted to get away from football and watch Netflix or YouTube and go shopping for clothes while netting $38 million guaranteed. So we probably shouldn't throw stones. -
