My thread predicting Bryce would get the fifth year option (again, not even arguing that he should, just predicting he will) is up to 34 pages now. Likewise, the one wherein ESPN guys did the same now stands at 12 pages. Who do you think is driving those discussions? (Hint: It ain't the "Bryce Brigade") There's a thread whose sole purpose was to mention that Bryce was up for Player of the Week honors. What happened there? Hell, this thread is ostensbly about a guy on another team. How long did it take for someone to bring Bryce into the topic? Was it for positive reasons? This is the mood right now, and it's why, in the midst of at least a potential playoff push, we're not universally jubilant about our team's successes. And this coming Sunday, the cycle will start all over again.

Aiight... 1st... Dowdle is good and all but I don't think he's getting a long term contract here. Noone seems to remember how good Chubba actually was before that injury. I do think he's actually the better back "for us" in the long run. Go back to the first quarter of the season and watch them split carries. 2nd.. JT Sanders is still an unknown imo. He shouldn't have dropped that weight in the offseason. Tremble should be the floor at what we want in a TE. Edge will definitely be on the radar again. If we want results quickly then free agency is our best option. Scourtin and Princely still need a couple of years to develop. ILB should be upgradable. Wallace and Rozeboom are usable but can be upgraded. I do like Wallace though. The Oline is getting too expensive to be sustainable unless we get another QB on a rookie contract. Moton is coming to his end and Icky would fit in nicely as a replacement. With as much $ as we already have on the line though, that would leave LT needing to br addressed. If I'm Morgan @ draft time I'm looking at Tackle(Moton insurance), MLB, FS, CB and QB. Guard/Center depth also. Probably in that order too, maybe take ILB in the first and RT 2nd. TE and OLB should be targeted in free agency as we need the experience.... + Add a backup QB.

Depends... Every few years there tends to be one or two guys designated "Rooney guys" who a bunch of teams interview in order to satisfy the rules even if they aren't really interested. That sucks, but it happens. I wouldn't wanna see Evero (or anyone else honestly) be one of those guys, but the league is what it is.

This isn't an area where I have a whole lot of options
-
No, I mean the Bryce Brigade is a very select group. The haters are not coming for Jon Snow because he compliments Bryce’s 4th down throws lol.
-
Defense still isn't what I'd call great, but at least it's better than last year. Whether that's Evero or better personnel is a matter of opinion. Bottom line for me is I won't be all that upset if he gets a new job.
-
I can sign on to that. Heck, as a fanbase we've seen so little winning over the last several years, it'd be nice to just enjoy it while it's happening. Cause if it stops, who knows how long it'll be till we see it again?

It's beginning to be the same level of pressure but less commitment. It's likely to just be an ego thing.

I refuse to watch the OG 2 Gloved QB David Carr ever again. But for the OP, Carr is the 3rd #1 overall draft pick QB that has played for us. Well, the first. We just didn’t draft that one. but this post was informative. Now I understand why you have more tolerance than I with our current QB

David and Derek Carr on the Panthers video
kungfoodude replied to cranky's topic in Carolina Panthers
Are you a very, very new NFL fan?? -
There was a time here when you were only allowed to praise our starting quarterback and if you said anything objective or (God forbid) negative you'd automatically be called a...hater. Yeah, I think that was the term Now we're to the point of you can't say anything positive about our...ummm, quarterback without being labelled a "stan", a homer, or a member of "the Bryce brigade" Nobody's told me yet whether membership in this has benefits or perks. Doubt I'd join anyway though (not my thing). Swear, sometimes I wonder if the people to the extremes of a given argument hate the people trying to stay objective more than they do their direct opposites. Sure seems that way sometimes. Either way, the end result tends to wind up being less actual substantive discussion, more stat spamming and barrages of "he sucks", ".oh yeah, well you suck more!" Bottom line though, there is an actual real world discussion to be had about Bryce: the good, the bad, what should happen, what will happen, and all the in-betweens. Maybe we can have that talk at some point down the road.

Everyone has their own way of processing. I personally would prefer to avoid spending the entire bye week recycling the same arguments about Bryce Young. I think we've got all the angles quite well covered at this point. This is a watershed moment for the team if there ever was one. Canales Bryce and the Panthers will either bring their A-game and look like a surging playoff team trending upward against the lowly Saints or they will revert to the same old same old and it will be another edition of disappointment which will certainly not bode well for the prospects of sweeping the Bucs. That result whichever one it will be will dictate the ongoing conversation and hopefully it is the former and we can all begin to rally around the team after so many years of nonsense. But. If it is indeed the latter then all involved will deserve any and all criticism because they control their own destiny at this moment moreso than they have in a long time which is a pivotal crossroads for our weary fanbase. Just win

cranky started following David and Derek Carr on the Panthers video
-
First I didn't know they had a youtube channel; second I do not remember David playing for the Panthers but apparently he did; third, I didn't know Derek had a brother that also played in the NFL and finally fourth, it's a short video and there's realy nothing new here but it's great listening to them dissect plays from a QB perspective - especially if you look at some of the other videos. Anyway, it's only a little over 13 minutes and defintely worth the watch.

Cap is roughly 280m per season right now. After Icky's extension (26m AAV), Mayes (6m), and keeping the rest of the oline, Chuba, Tmac and XL, if we signed Bryce to his 50m extension this offseason, we'd be at roughly 160 of our 280 without anyone else on offense. Brown and Horn take up 47m by themselves. 10 players of our 53 would eat up 75% of our cap in 26. We'd be crippled.
-
Should have put Moore in the moment Delhomme started imploding against ARZ.
-
Go ahead and name the posters that expect Bryce to be Mahomes or Cam. It's more his most ardent fans that bring them up. The reason we "quote stats" is because people insist we want HoF level play, when we just want a consistent, competitive offense, and that relies on decent QB play. The vast majority of "haters" just hate bad QB play. There are some people that have become far too nitpicky but when we're three seasons in and he's still this inconsistent, I don't entirely blame them. Anyway I hope Bryce continues to improve.
-
When you have a QB who cannot throw the ball unless the pocket is perfect that's what you have to do. I don't think a lot of fans grasp how fuged we would be with Bryce on a franchise QB deal. You can't put the pieces in front of and around Bryce that ge has to have to succeed if you're paying him $50M+ a year. Hell, we struggle to do it with him on a rookie contract and it's forced us to duct tale a defensive roster together.

Dak can have 500 yards with 6 TDs all to Lamb and Pickens and still lose and I'll be happy. I have all 3 starting on the same team in FF tonight.
