I am glad it's annoying the officials too. Hopefully the traction this offseason is to ban that unwatchable rugby BS.
-
I don't disagree. I'm mostly thinking about it from a dream team perspective. Eli's not on any of those. Unless its the beat Tom Brady dream team.
-
They also tried to sign perryman that season but he got himself cut, exact reason up to speculation. they had that slow white guy from Denver. uh….shaqs contract was renegotiated like every year from 2021-2024 if that counts Drafted, uh…..Brandon Smith?
-
IDK about Fitz but yeah Brees is 100% lock to get in first ballot and it's not really a debate. SB MVP, 2x OPOY, 5x All-Pro (1 1st team), 7x pass yds leader, 4x pass TD leader, 2nd all time in both passing yards and TDs. Obviously I couldn't stand Brees with the Aints as a rival but his career was legendary. Just glad he only won once. Sean Payton totally underachieved there considering the QB he had.
-
I mean, I don't even know how to respond to that. You are making the biggest mountain out of the smallest molehill I think I have ever seen. How often do non-Eagles teams run a QB sneak on average per season? Probably 5-10 plays? So you truly believe those pittance of plays is what makes Superbowl champs? So....what happened with Cam then? Josh Allen?

We are the only people scared of him. -
They also false start every time they do it those fuggin sh*t birds.
-
I don't think the eagles win a SB without being able to qb sneak. Brady might not have as many rings if he couldnt do it as well.
-
That is a very different and very unfair comparison for literally all 31 other teams. They have that stupid, unwatchable play they run to a ton of success that no other team can do at that level. fug them and that crap. Can't wait until the league bans it.
-
I'd love to have Eli as our QB. He was a proven baller in the playoffs, and still a legit franchise QB who was better than the majority of the league in the regular season. Honestly the Giants didn't build many great teams around him. Put him in a beneficial situation like Belichick, Reid, Tomlin, etc. run and he could've won more than 2 SBs if you ask me. He was on a lot of bad teams, like really bad teams, throughout his career. Hell, swap him in for Rivers in the mid-late aughts and I bet he gets the Chargers a SB. Still think that whole draft situation was bullshit and lost respect for Eli there, but whatever.
-
Yeah but if you are talking about something like an extremely rarely used or needed play like a QB sneak, it's already a pretty off the rails argument. That doesn't factor in enough to W's and L's to be something that is particularly relevant. If you want to talk overall arm strength, field vision, footwork, consistency, athleticism, etc on Bryce, those are all valid critiques of his game and why he hasn't been successful. But the oddball obsessions about pretty meaningless aspects are a bit bizarre. QB sneaks? Not enough 40+ yard passes? Workout regimen?? Guys....there is ample stuff to criticize without this kind of nonsense.
-
Im not saying he should, but its one more play that's off the table. Do you think the eagles would be as good without the QB sneak?
-
Running through a wall I took as a remark more in the sense of showing your teammates you're willing to do whatever it takes in high pressure moments that define games and seasons. Not literally playing with complete reckless abandon. You want to limit those scenarios with a high probably for negative outcomes clearly but I'll never complain about a guy who is the face of the team wanting to make the most of moments like that when the games are on the line. We haven't had that mentality here for quite awhile now.

Yeah I am not passionate about this. And yea longevity counts for sure. Plenty of guys get left off because they didn’t sustain their level of play for enough years.

Didn’t Greg keep sitting on his dick -
I doubt it's willingness. It's just not smart. Both from a player protection perspective and also.....Bryce isn't built for that. Not all QB's are. What advantage would he have that our RB's wouldn't? It's not reach. It's not build. We don't run a QB sneak with him on short yardage because....that's just fuging stupid.
-
He definitely was not top tier but he was close enough to me that combined with his 2 SB runs (which were absolutely insanely elite and clutch play from Eli all the way) it's enough to get in. He's also 11th all time in passing TDs and yards. Longevity does count for something. Frank Gore will probably get in due to that alone, he was never one of the top RBs in the league but was in the 2nd tier for so long. (granted, I don't personally think Gore should get in, just that he will. Him and Eli are similar career wise outside of Eli's 2 SB runs which elevate him above Gore considerably IMO) At the end of the day it doesn't really matter and is somewhat arbitrary. It's a bunch of writers voting too, not necessarily football people.

What about the blood flow part? How do you think the body transports anti inflammatories, signaling proteins, (in part) clears out dead tissue? It’s why anemic people are poor surgical candidates; they won’t heal. Or why people with poor vascular systems have wounds that never heal. Blood heals things. Blood makes muscles go. This is not controversial. What do you think cyclists using EPO are doing? Why do you think blood flow restriction training is the standard for athletes rehabbing various injuries? it takes two seconds to look this up. This study was about chronic ankle instability in general, but the results are comparable. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9081407/ as someone who is currently going through this for a much more serious injury it’s exhausting. Larger amounts of lean muscle mass leading to improved healing results isn’t even controversial. Bigger people are generally going to have more muscle mass, and athletes are going to have more lean muscle mass. As an extreme example, why do you think resistance training is emphasized so much for the 50+ population? -
Good post. I am pretty much with Dallas being his ceiling. Consistent 4 quarter performance. He could produce more numbers in different scenarios but I don’t think he can play much better. If that makes any sense. He got an away lot of help though. I struggle to visualize that level of play overcoming a really good defense that shuts down the run game and puts it in his hands. Was hoping for more evidence on that this year.
-
But with more time he can turn into the best version of himself that can be...and still not be worth a non-rookie contract.
-
You think Fitzgerald will be but not Brees?? I gotta disagree. Especially since they really moved the goalposts on that position.
-
No, the post said style of play, not willingness. It said QBs running through brick walls (meaning defenders was my interpretation but open to having misinterpreted this particular part) to get first downs, referring to plays in which Baker Mayfield took a lot of contact and Jaxon Dart launched head first into a defender. I don’t think THAT is necessary for a QB to be successful.
-
Not a good idea but a disadvantage not to be able to sneak it. I think his style can work but he needs to be almost perfect in other ways to be successful.

what does bryce young excel at
kungfoodude replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's probably a Z. Wilson, Darnold, etc. Guys that generally it became pretty obvious these weren't franchise QB's to build around. Which, that's pretty much Bryce Young as of today. -
Cam was very honest about that. He said he got caught up too much in the Superman persona and the feeling he had to carry the team. I bet if you asked him outside of a camera he would probably admit that he should have probably played the game with more focus on protecting the length of his career. With taking the hits and also protecting that arm with some of the really bad habits he had there.
