Panthers signing WR John Metchie

I mean AT was clearly the best WR on the team when he was here. -

Not sure that part is wholly a front office issue. -

Typically I agree with that logic but our FO has not shown logical progression where Bryce is concerned. -
Don't understand ppl getting upset by bottom of the roster moves
-
Can he play LT?

With these FA moves, PFF guys don't know who to mock to us

Wouldn’t mind going Safety at #19. A few guys there could raise the ceiling of the defense. -

If he keeps falling into the trap of tunnel vision then we need a new QB. Build the best roster you can and if the QB isn't properly utilizing it then stop this mess of protecting Bryce from his faults and from competition and being in real NFL QB talent. -
Greedy greedy today. I could have locked up 200 dollars profit

Bryce trusted AT. It was part of the reason AT had to go. Bryce had to look beyond AT as a 1st read. If Metchie falls into that security blanket role AT used to fill, it's a step back for Bryce. That's not something we need in such a pivotal year, if that were to happen. -
I hated him as a Saint but I’d love him as a Panther

I'd rather bring in Bobby Wagner before Cam Jordan. -

Should be cheap and probably doesn't take WR off the board as a potential mid to late round pick. He's not here to start. He's here to push for those 3-5/6 spots and push XL and Horn. T-Mac and Coker are the outside starters. Throw bodies onto the field in camp and let them sort it out to fill our the rest of the depth chart. -

I'm curious what this signing means for our wide receiver room as a whole things are getting pretty chaotic someone who was here last year won't be here next year especially if they go into the draft and bring out another wide receiver horn laguette Tremaine and we resign Dave's favorite wide receivers/specialteam player -
And yet, the Jets didn't even tender him a RFA offer. Yet another reason I don't love this, if the Jets don't think he's good enough to keep around given their WR needs, then why do we think he is?

For the jets? I mean, dude might as well be a HOFer for putting up over 10 yards in that dumpster fire behind planned parenthood shitshow of an offense and Qbs they had last year. -
I get it, but the "trust" is my problem. Would just rather bring in a better player than someone Bryce trusts. We need a real #3 in the slot, not players who have been on 3 teams in the last 18 months and none of them wanted to keep him around. Now... if you tell me that the staff is actually 100% sold on Horn Jr being the clear cut slot starter this year, then maybe I'll feel differently. As that then pushes XL into the #4 (like I want if he's still here), Moore as the #5 (aka special teamer), and then Metchie is just someone to make Bryce comfortable with in camp and fight out Tremayne for the last possible roster spot that wouldn't get a jersey on game days. I just doubt that's the case given Horn Jr's usage late in the season, didn't scream "we think he can be our #3 next year"

I wouldnt worry too much about that. Yea they were teammates but Bryce knows T-mac is his bread and butter and Coker is a reliable guy, this IMO would make him more overlook someone like XL, Jimmy Horn, or Tremayne. Solid piece and someone he trusts, could be a steal, could be a bust...lets see. -

REPORT: Panthers going after Browns TE David Njoku
TheSpecialJuan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Its clear we're attempting to upgrade at the TE position. Njoku, Goedert, Jonnu Smith are all substantial upgrades -
Honestly, think I'd rather have brought back Curtis than sign Metchie (and Curtis' NFL career may be done anyways). At least he would be a great vet presence to have for T-Mac, Coker, and XL.
