Legette still focusing on drops per David Newton
kungfoodude replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am replying based on Huddle input, if you read the full message. We can put a poll up for expected production/results. Might be interesting to check back on towards the end of the season. -
I still think XL offers the biggest overall play potential on the O. Bryce and Canales need to find a way to give him some YAC opportunity that isn't at the LOS.

XL is a fantastic talent. His drops last year, while frustrating, is not his norm. I expect him to have a breakout year. -
as Joe Person pointed out this am, there is a perfect opportunity to try to trade Adam Theilen (who has no future here) back to the Vikings. Really lean into Hunter tutoring Jimmy Horn and have Horn ready by midseason for slot reps w/ him. I mean it's not like you want Hunter out there run blocking either so both really a pass heavy look WRs

That certainly wouldn't surprise me at all. -
that wasn't directed at you. Just the general group thought on Tmac and what is expected. I think if you put up a huddle poll 85+ % would say he is a 1k WR this year and likely the favorite for OROY.
-
Move on from him already. Please.

Bryce should not try to be some loudmouth rah rah guy if that isn’t truly him. The other guys will see through that -

I don't think the expectations on TMac are as high as you think. TBH, we saw higher expectations for XL in year 1 than TMac, based on the Huddle input, anyway. A lot of both of their production is going to be tied to Bryce anyway. I suspect that if Bryce doesn't take a big leap, 80% of the ire is going to be directed at him rather than any specific WR. -

Yep. We have no idea what Bryce Young is like on the field or in meeting rooms. None. We know how he is in interviews. That's it. We're starting to hear about his true personality coming out in practices, jawing with Jaycee and Mike Jack. No way he could be doing all of that while he was stinking up the field the way he was rookie season. You just look stupid and people will call you out on that ish. Keep playing like he did at the end of last season, and we'll see the real Bryce come out. Convert back to the first 2 games, and we'll see him slink back into his shell. -

All the more reason for athletes to get off social media. Anyone famous that is checking comments or reading DM's on social media is just voluntarily wading into an overflowing sewer. -
based on expectations/talk going on....my huddle bucks are betting on.... the huddle being mad/disappointed Tmac doesn't come out the gates being what the board expects him to be right away XL gets some redemption as he makes more plays than people are expecting.

Post- Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection
kungfoodude replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
100%. There are rarely, if ever, PS signings that turn into much more than temporary depth pieces. The examples of these are extreme outliers if you look at a season NFL roster transactions log. -
The Panthers have an effort problem
kungfoodude replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I gotta be honest, all of the talk of team/vocal/by example leader is pretty pointless. We see snippets at best so we only know second or third hand about that kind of poo unless it is blantantly obvious. Cam was obvious because he was Cam. So we really are purely speculating on if he is a wet blanket or incapable or whatever. We literally have very, very, VERY little idea. That's not a subject that we can effectively evaluate, IMO. The on field stuff, 100%. -
I don't think they keep 7 WRs and I suspect Moore and Tremayne to PS. If we lose either of these guys to another team, I'm not losing sleep because the NFL has tons of WRs like this. As always, us fans over value our players and this team is yet to score a TD so I doubt anyone is eyeing our fringe WRs.

XL is going to have a big year and getting open has never been an issue. TMac is going to garner a lot of attention and XL (or Coker) are going to benefit.

They need to hire Dr. Sharon Fieldstone. She's good! -
and the revolution will not be televised is one of the greatest media moments ever.

I mean, everyone can work on it but this team natural vocal leaders with an edge. We know what isn't Bryce's DNA. We have seen the Panthers before try to put that on someone that isn't that. It just doesn't work. And he was the biggest freak ever to put on a Panther uniform and a HOF player. the MAIN reason the org team can't be looking at Bryce to take that on (it's not height).....is Bryce isn't even good at his job yet. That's sort of required. Then add the personality aspect in play.

I respectfully disagree. I'm 5'8" tall and I've led men and women that were a lot taller than me - in the military and in football. Actually was voted Team Captain junior and senior years in high school. People respect competence and talent/ability. Now if he's bad at his job, that could actually impact his ability to lead. You can't be out there telling guys to play better when you're the worst player on the field. -

Sometimes happens when you start thinking about extending the play / YAC before you have secured the ball. -
been listening to a lot of Pete Seeger, Woodie and Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and Jesse Wells lately. Jesse is something else. i love it. Odetta and Richie Havens are part of my rotation pretty frequently as well. didn't know about Father John Misty. checking him out now.

Not that I believe it's a fans responsibility to coddle a multimillionaire to do his job.... But that's one thing I've hated seeing out of this fanbase about XL. Every single social post with him on it people are hounding him about drops and catching the ball. I think even fans underestimate their ability to get in someone's head to the point that it mentally defines them. Next thing you know he's always thinking about drops instead of naturally making the catch. I'd been thinking this recently, and this article kind of solidified it for me. -

What is weird is that drops were never a concern at SC (albeit you have the “it was only one real year” argument), but he caught everything thrown his way unless my drunken memory is misguiding me. Last year was unusual by XL’s standards. I hope he can turn the corner. -

Most drops happen because you take your eyes off the ball assuming you'll just catch it from muscle memory. The solution is to see your hands catch the ball. Don't take it for granted. Actually see your hands close on the ball before you do anything else.
