Very likely that he needs another season or two to really find his groove. It very well may not be here where he has his best season. He’s a physical standout, but he can’t seem to get his focus and mentality right. That non-catch where he didn’t get his second foot in bounds was a truly awful display of this. Every professional in this game makes that catch. Last week, it was clear that he wasn’t playing in top gear. Like so many young people these days, he wants success without working hard. He wants maximum reward for minimum effort. He wants to rest on talent. But talent alone won’t cut it. The foolishness of youth and inexperience. He can have it all if he wants it. Seems like he’s content to be a social media star and a forgettable football player.

If we aren’t there by now with this club then it’s close.

I was going to joke and have the Chiefs throw in 2 first rounders..... But as soon as the Mahomes/Bryce trade comes through we need to hit accept and have Mahomes on the very first flight out here; no negotiation needed lol.

It will be interesting this year to see if spending time with some of the best QBs and play callers in the league changed Wentz at all. I really think Mills is starter material. He wasn’t awful despite being apart of two dumpster fire seasons before Demeco got there. Plus he would have zero issues seeing over the line.

I feel like for once every one of those guys held back. And I think there is a 5'9 100% attitude guy that they're almost hesitant to speak out against. This is the fact of the matter, it's sports. When you win, fans cheer. When you lose, fans boo. Especially consistently year after year with no end in sight. Instead of just talking about us being the Bible belt maybe talk about how we've never once in the franchise history had back to back winning seasons. We love the team, we loved and celebrated Cam and Steve, and even guys like Jake that we love not just because of talent but because of his spirit as the face of the team. But they all won. Fans pay a lot of money on gear, and on these overpriced tickets to go out and see a horrible product. I've slowed down on watching games because I realized I was spending 4 hours of my day getting annoyed watching a consistently bad product. Outside of a few hopeful games at the end of last year Panthers football hasn't even been enjoyable to watch. When I flip the channel to a Ravens/Eagles game it almost feels like I'm watching a different sport. I wouldn't just focus so much attention on the city, I'd ask based on the results are they justified.

If he is, we’ve entered the seventh circle of hell…

Is shove my dick in a doorjam if we did another experiment with a bust QB. Also, I don’t think the franchise will survive another bad qb. People are on the verge of not showing up anymore. This would be the death nail

I’ll trade young for anyone of them straight up.

I’d rather watch DB play QB at this point.

DJ Johnson just ticked too many boxes on the warning list. Unpolished/raw at his position, older guy, etc. Project players don't belong in the top 3 rounds, IMO. Not on teams completely bereft of talent. The Ravens, 49ers, etc of the world can get away with that. It's hard to justify that in the condition our roster usuallu is.
-
Trust me, I wasn't either. Just seemed like another TMJ, Mingo, etc. Well.....turns out it was.

Upper tier backups have good options available. Also, hitching your bandwagon to a career backup isn't likely to pan out. Mills is a possibility, but that would have to be a trade. He is under contract through 2026. Same with Lock, under contract through 2026.

Fishing around in the dumpster isn't the answer. Get better at prospect evaluation is literally the only answer. Or maybe drastically overpay some aging veteran, which seems like an unwise idea.
-
That’s basically the old baseball cliche, we can lose 100 games without you.
-
One last thing, they could have brought Lock in this year, right? Didn’t for some reason. I know that when Canales got here they talked to him and he had committed elsewhere. But I didn’t see that they talked to him this year. That means something, but who knows what. I’d like to see a process of selection Re QB that didn’t include Bryce in whatever considerations get considered. What would we do without him murking up the waters.

It seems so simple.

Lol I was trying to say I was close to bailing. English is a funny language sometimes.

I am trying to remember if OJ and the Bills did anything in his 2000 yard rushing season. Looked it up. Nope. That was a 14 game season no one has really gotten his YPG average and this list of 2000 yd guys is freaking impressive. But they didn’t win poo.
-
The Huddle is full of idiots. Me included. Doesn't change that Bryce's stats aren't indicative of success just like some of his better games last year didn't look it from stats
-
That is a fairly frequent byproduct of teams run by offensive minds. I guess I’m profiling or something but that is my experience. You are taking that risk. All this fancy offense wins SBs sometimes but you look at Marino, Fouts, guys like that. Plenty didn’t. Great QBs but no championships.
-
I have on Huddle authority that passing yards are the best metric to measure QBs by. Oh, and wins are exclusively a QB stat (especially in the postseason).

Cam on First take today, his comments on Smith’s fan statements

A crazy stat is that the Charlotte metro area is projected to have the same population as the Boston metro area in 25 years. -
Smitty goes off on CLT on WFNZ
strato replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
Seems like there are two main perspectives weighing in. Watching, and having to play/compete against him. If you have to play against him Sunday, what does it matter that he did violence on Thursday? Or if he isn’t a suitable role model…. I watched NFL when Don Merideth QB’d the Cowboys. Way before MNF. Dan Reeves I think was a backup. I saw ‘The Heidi Game’ live on my little B&W 13” TV when I was a kid. No kidding. And you know, much more. I can’t say I have really seen anyone like Smitty. I love those other 3 too. There isn’t another Cam, I think there are other maybe Peps - athletic freaks with size and speed. And there have been probably a couple of Lukes or close. Heady super talented and motivated defensive QBs - which Luke was. But I love that guy, He is HOF in my book. There were guys that were similar to Smitty I thought Andre Rison had some of it but he flamed out. There are others that I maybe am not recalling. But Smitty took stuff to a new level. Like when he came back to BOA as a Raven. He just destroyed people. Sorry for the long winded drunk post.
