  1. Past hour
  2. I'm genuinely OK with a lack of prime time games. And certainly more than OK with no Thursday games that statistically greatly increase injury risks. This team has been ass for years, and even though I am optimistic for this upcoming season, the last thing I want is to see us poo the bed again in prime time. If we're good enough, we will get rewarded at the end of the year. Also, while watching prime time games is fun, going to a 1PM game is so much better from a scheduling standpoint with kids.
  3. Everyone was pretty happy with his start to the season. He was doing well as a compliment to DJ. When DJ got shipped, he took on more X responsibilities and it didn’t work out, he struggled, got injured and hit the rookie wall. Pretty sure we see him returning to more slot, flanker and a lot more free releases stuff. He did this pretty well to begin with. All draft reports cited he’s be good at this, poor at X and it showed. Im excited for his year 2
  4. if the NFL is trying to keep an entire division (well, most of) on the same BYE week date as much as possible, then that would most likely fall the week before the MNF game in SF. If that's true, that would be an extra day of recovery which would be a bonus Smelling like our home opener is against Atlanta
  5. They also had the #1 defense. Barkley is a great RB but any top 10 back in the league would have had a career year playing in Philly last year.
  6. Barkely is a put you over the top player. Not a make you a contender player. Which is exactly what has career has shown. Why the Giants let him go.
  7. I think the plan and hope is that Moehrig, Richardson, and Ransom can be the long-term core at S. Still for depth reasons I think we need to bring in a veteran safety on a 1-year deal as a contingency
  8. Carolina Panthers schedule leaks and updates Panthers to open on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 (Jordan Schultz, FOX Sports) Panthers to visit New England Patriots in Week 4 (Joe Person, The Athletic) Panthers to visit Green Bay Packers in Week 9 (Travis Hancock, WFNZ) Panthers to host Miami Dolphins in Week 5 (Barry Jackson, Miami Herald) Panthers to visit San Francisco 49ers for Monday Night Football in Week 12 (Travis Hancock, WFNZ) Panthers to visit Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 (Johnny Venerable, PHNX Sports)
  9. Under Evero we have usually had 5 safeties on the active roster. Right now, we have only have Moehrig, Richardson, Nick Scott, and Ransom. Not counting the UDFA, that's only 4 safeties right now on the roster. Even if Nick Scott is the 5th S primarily for ST, there's still a spot that needs to be filled. I'm wary of depending on a 2nd year UDFA or a rookie 4th rounder to be the Week 1 starter. Signing someone else would allow Nick Scott to compete with the undrafted guys/anyone else we bring in for the final spot. The only question I see is the timing of the move. Because on one hand, maybe one of these guys can step up. But of course the risk is waiting and potentially losing out on quality guys thay could help you. So, I guess to be clear, I think the Panthers safety depth is still extremely questionable, and i think it would be malpractice not to sign another S that has logged significant snaps in the NFL. In terms of the timing for signing someone, that's for someone above our pay grades (Dan Morgan) to figure out
  10. looks like no thursday night games for us. No short weeks to prep for (other than that MNF game)
  11. We haven't had a good GM since Bob Bass with the original hornets.
  12. Recapping previous posts to try to get a current summary. Would love to see a BYE immediately before the SF game. Doubt it'd be late after the LAR one. Would hate for it to be early after MIA. @ Jax @ ARI home vs.... Atlanta? Unsure yet @ NE MIA tbd (won't be ATL or NO) @ NYJ BUF @ GB NO tbd (won't be TB) @ SF (MNF PRIME TIME) LAR tbd tbd (won't be ATL or TB) tbd (won't be NO) tbd (won't be ATL or TB) tbd
  13. For those without the NFL Network (etc) who want to watch the official release, the NFL has you covered:
  14. To be fair, historically we have overperformed our lottery slot(in terms of probability) and had a pretty significant hand in making very poor draft picks for a long time.
  15. smelling like it's New Orleans v Seattle in week 3. If that's true, they've gotta gotta put ATL in our week 3 slot We need a BIG home opener, and pickin's are getting slim
  16. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/first-look-emerges-of-nicholas-cage-as-john-madden-and-chrisian-bale-as-al-davis Cage has been in some things that, well, aren’t good. Bale’s work rarely lands in that category. The mere mention of Bale’s name gives Madden cachet. Up the ying yang. (If you’re never seen The Prestige, what are you waiting for? If you start now, you will have watched it twice by this time tomorrow.) Listen to Mike Florio
  17. When will the schedule be released? ETA: Has it already been released and I don't know?
  18. Week 2 @ Arizona Week 3 has to be either saints or atlanta at home. only makes sense 10/19 v Jets 11/9 at home vs NO
  19. You're making conflicting arguments here though. If you want to say we don't have ideal depth and need another Safety for that reason, okay, that's fair. But if you want to talk about "the future at safety" then there is only one possible answer there, and he's already on the roster with Ransom. No FA out there right now is someone who would be a FS of the future for us, they'd all be one year fill-in's until we can replace them next offseason with a long term solution. So if there is anyone with even a remote possibility of playing FS for us this year and then being our long term solution there, it's Ransom. Which is why I say throw him out there as the starter in Week 1 unless he severely struggles in camp. The only way we'll know if we found a cheap FS for the next 3-4 years is by playing him and seeing if he can do the job. If he proves he can be the guy, then we have a minimal cap hit solution at FS through the 2028 season and can use that cap space and draft picks next year towards pass rushers, LB's, and/or a C or RT of the future. If he struggles and we see he needs to be a backup SS for us instead, then we turn around and use those assets next offseason to find the long term solution. But signing a 1 year rental to play there takes that possibility away while also eating into the cap room we could roll over into next year.
