The NBA lottery needs to be investigated while we're at it

Well the bar for Dalton looking better had been set pretty low by Bryce. My expectation is slightly more production and far quicker decision making with the ball. Less mobility but quicker and probably more accurate. So something like Bryce + 10-15%. I am not exactly expecting him to blow the doors off. Maybe just achieve slightly below average NFL QB play.
-
These are all clear bust guys. They are more suited for teams with well established starters and good QB development. That isn't us. Also none of those guys are clearly better than Bryce and none of them are an actual upgrade over Dalton. I am fine with them as a 3rd string option. That's very reasonable. But it wouldn't fix any of the current QB issues. But, that being the case, is it better to dumpster dive or maybe take a shot in the draft on a guy? Not saying I prefer one or the other, that's all situation based.

It was completely pathetic for all these sports leagues to embrace gambling the way they have. A stain on all these sports.

I'd be a little surprised if Dalton does look better after a game. Sure we could have the surprise game where there isn't much film on him with these new weapons, but just like last year he will look bad if not worse after that (if that even happens). For all of his short comings (pun intended) Bryce is a lot more twitchy in the pocket and has saved a lot of sacks that Dalton probably couldn't this year. I think we invest all of our draft capital in building a stronger roster. I'm not sure a backup rookie QB does has the immediate returns they are looking for. Unless there is some QB we are high on that falls to the mid/late rounds I don't see happening. Now if Bryce just bombs this second half all bets are off.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm sure we would've squandered the picks. -
Something illegal and unethical happens in the world of gambling. Color me shocked and amazed. Gambling is always on the up and up, right? People who either get put in a bad position or in a lucrative position would never ever ever violate the sanctity of the game, right?
-
The NBA has previously had a mafia related gambling scandal with a ref. This one looks much worse.
-
I think Dalton, if he plays, looks slightly better than Bryce. So, if the wheels don't fall off Bryce(or Andy) the remainder of the season, I suspect we are looking at the exact same QB room in 2026. I would be surprised if he either signed a younger guy or drafted a guy. Also, we should probably actually draft a guy.
-
Oh, I think that is selective. I mean, everyone can't do it. Just like with everything else. Only select folks are allowed to be bad. They will try to weed out the random people trying to get in on things, it can't be a big thing everyone can get in on. I mean, isn't it pretty well acknowledged the mob back in they day influenced outcomes of sports?

No, he isn't. Trevor was billed as generational. Like Luck and now Arch. Not living up to that billing is a different level of bust precisely because of that tag. Bryce is at an Akili Smith, Heath Shuler, Joey Harrington level of bust at the moment. Just a guy that should have never been there in the first place. Now, the trade price is an aggravating factor but even with that the "generational" tag trumps it. That's a tough one to not live up to. Luck came closest but injuries derailed him. Lawrence has literally just never looked like it at all.

I remember hearing about point shaving scandals when I was a kid. That said, I don't remember seeing active professional players and coaches arrested, and in season.

Another active NBA player possibly involved...

Everyone (I'm not just focusing on you sir) seems to think that trade set the team back for a decade. It really didn't. Scott F was a terrible GM. I do not think for one minute that we would have turned those trades into draft gold. All you have to do is look at this draft record. Fitterer had the top pick in the 2023 draft and blew it. We've passed over players we could have used in each of his drafts to trade down and pick up gems like TMJ . Other times he'd trade up a pick gems like Matt Corrall and DJ Johnson . He probably would have used those picks to acquire more picks in lower rounds and choose the players with the highest RAS scores. I think the season before Burns left he literally had about 1/3 of our sacks. I said it would be a bad idea to not resign him if you didn't have a player (or players) on the roster to replace that production. To this day we still don't have a consistent pass rusher off the edge on either side. Our lack of of a pass rush is arguably our biggest weakness on defense. -
folks have been gambling and "influencing" games since before we were all born.

Chauncey Billups was also arrested this is terrible On October 23, 2025, Billups was arrested as part of an ongoing federal gambling investigation by the FBI. According to reports, his arrest was connected to an illegal poker operation with alleged ties to organized crime. Authorities stated that the case was not related to any games he coached.[78]

I don't pay attention to gambling or gambling laws much so I have no idea what makes it illegal in this particular case. Still, an active head coach and player at the same time...wow
