With Morgan, I see a plan. No, you don't measure the GM at this point in terms of wins and losses--but we will later. I thought Hurney sucked in free agency and was sub par after round 1 of the draft. When Fox was a lame duck and did not inform the GM, Hurney drafted Jimmy Clausen and moved up for Armanti Edwards. He started trading away future first rounders when he got desperate (to get Otah and then drafted Everette Brown the following year) Gettlemen was the "one-year contract" guy. The players hated him. Fitterer was terrible. It is too early to tell with Morgan, so you have to look at the pieces. Our OL was bad, now our OL is good. WR was a weakness--now WR seems to be a strength. DL was bad, now DL should be very good. Pass rush was bad, we have 2 solid rookies and added Wonnum and Jones. I think Morgan has had 2 solid drafts, especially in rounds 3-7. He has had 2 good seasons bringing in UDFAs, imo. The team went from terrible in 2024 to taking the two super bowl teams down to the wire late. The energy is positive. The wins will come.

MHS831 started following Canales Addresses CB position

https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/06/04/panthers-2025-otas-dave-canales-cornerback-free-agency/84016482007/?link_source=ta_first_comment&taid=6840193aa1ae9c000185ac12 I have been curious about the position, wondering if Jackson, Horn, and Smith-Wade were going to be enough. The reporter asks a good question, especially in light of all the Jalen Ramsey rumors. To me, the big questions concerned depth players Evans and Bartholomew. As for the UDFA, I have been waiting to hear about Thornton and Reid, but there does not seem to have been a lot of urgency to draft a CB or bring in a free agent. Morgan basically re-signed Jackson and locked up Horn. A few highlights from the article: Canales mentioned Evans, Bartholomew, and Thornton by name. He seems satisfied that Evans and Bartholomew are the key reserves. Thornton, based on reading tea leaves about his comments, has flashed, but might be on the outside looking in. Personally, in the limited action Evans and Bartholomew played last season, I was optimistic, and it seems Canales feels the same. He mentions that Smith-Wade is playing inside and outside. If he steps up, that is good news. It seems as though they really like Jackson because Canales seemed to focus on CB depth in his answer. Coaches have to be careful answering questions like this one--If the coach mentions your name, great, but if he does not, it hurts morale. If he says, "We'd like to upgrade the position" it can also hinder motivation. Canales did not mention SDSU CB Mike Reid. IN RELATED NEWS I recently read that the Canales likes the battle between Ransom and Richardson for the other safety position beside Moehrig. Not sure we will be upgrading that position at this time. Remember, the DBs play better when the front 7 plays better. PROJECTED DB ROSTER ENTERING CAMP CB: Horn, Jackson, Smith-Wade, Bartholomew, Evans--Practice Squad Candidates: Thornton, Reid S: Moehrig, Ransom, Richardson, xxxxxx- I expect Henderson, Gifford, or Thomas (all UDFAs) will battle Scott for the final safety position.

Getting an early start this year...

Richardson availablity is hindering his development. I liked him as well and thought a good QB coach could help him. I am glad they didn't take my advice. -
Dan Morgan on Rich Eisen show

Gettleman rode the coattail of best QB in the league and did nothing to support him. He let Agent 89 walk when we had zero talent at WR. For all his talk about hog mollies he did very little at consistently upgrading the lines. He gambled on questionable talent and put us in the direction we are in now. Focusing on the first season record is a weak argument. Dan fixed our offensive line in one season and was trying to do the same for the defense but that failed miserably because of the injuries we suffered. Everyone knew it was talent not scheme which is why Evero is still our DC. This year we focused on defense and depth and of course a new toy for Bryce. I think we've improved just about every room and have much better depth. I clearly see a much better direction and focus than we've ever had before. -
Am I in the minority when I say that he could do a lot better than this girl. Famous or not she’s not that attractive

SMH. We have one 5-12 season and no playoffs under our belt. Gettleman was here for 5 off-seasons with Rivera. The team went to the playoffs 4 of 5 years, were in a SB and had a 51-28 record. Do I think DG was amazing? No, he made a ton of mistakes but acting like Morgan is amazing is ridiculous, even for your rose colored glasses. It’s hard to really praise Gettleman but we didn’t have a single season as bad as last year under him. One 5-12 season is not a king maker. Let’s get 1 winning record before declaring the GOAT GM. I’d love nothing better to call Dan Morgan the greatest GM ever but he basically needs 4 straight 11 win seasons to match the 51 wins in 5 years under Gettleman and Ron.

No, Getelmen should be launched into the sun for doing nothing to keep Grose or making any effort at all to replace him..it was his insistence that our o line was fine that got Cam hit way to many times and shortened his career....who knows how long he could have played with half decent protection....and let's not forget the receivers he drafted...funches and Benjamin...one of those guys lazy rout running led to Cams first serious sholder injury -
I’m expecting a breakout season from Ja'tavion Sanders

I was reading the other day that Sanders showed up to camp in great shape...he's 10lbs lighter than last year and a tick faster..he says he's hungry to win...win the nfc south....to win the nfc...to win the super bowl..but he has set a personal goal to make the probowl...he is ready to work and win....and I live it -

Premature? Name a better GM, HC, and Cap Specialist. In the history of the Panthers. Please.

Oh, absolutely. I am ready to be hurt again, though. Way better than what we have had previously. I am thankful we all seem to like most Dan's decisions thus far. I was worried with him coming in and being part of the previous regime. I was optimistic, but I was also cracking pizza joint jokes. We have to win one eventually, right? Hopefully before I die. I have a bottle of that Carolina Panthers wine waiting lol

I figured that he is trying to put some distance between the player and the executive. He meant "player" obviously, but I imagine there is some stigma associated with a former player coming back to take a front office position. I did catch the comment.

I think they should think long and hard about firing lee and giving the bag to tibs or Malone if someone hasn't hired them yet. Roster needs a huge attitude adjustment

While I agree with you in spirit my gut and my heart says I'm not falling for this again until I see consistent results across the entire upcoming season. Then I'll breathe a sigh of relief and truly feel better about the future.

After some time to process and also in light of other small markets being successful and not requiring top overall picks to compete. This years finals looming large. While I readily acknowledge the league office clearly despises our franchise and has absolutely no qualms about us getting the short end of any stick in the draft lottery. The Hornets may just be doomed regardless due to their own mismanagement and inability to draft and develop legitimate playoff worthy talent. And we seemingly always pick the wrong player in the draft. I mean at this point we can even take a hard look at the 2020 draft and someone like Haliburton going pick 12 while Ball went 3rd. Did we draft the wrong guy or are we just that inept at any level of talent development or is it a mixture of both? Looks the latter right now.
-
I feel we are already moving in a better direction before we even take a snap this season. We have hope now. People are talking about us brewing something special. Remember how dismal things were when Rhule was here?

at the time, there was a lot of chatter of Dan being a Tepper yes-guy pick to followup when Fitterer left Dan seems to have proved otherwise, much to the fanbase' happiness

Bryce Young featured on this month's GQ magazine
ForJimmy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Anything he can do to help bring awareness to mental health will always be welcomed by me. Throw in his practicing/working out with Coker, JT, and TMac and it looks to be a good offseason for him. -
I think most people in the fanbase like XL he has that kind of personality that folks gravitate to. But visibility as an athlete for a losing franchise can be a double edged sword. You've got to show juice on the field that's the most important step to build a brand outside of football. If not fair or not the same folks will let you hear it. For that reason I just want to see him live his best life on and off the field however he sees fit as long as our franchise is moving in a better direction.

At least he was nice about it.

Rehashing it now just for fun? Even Bryce himself admitted his shortcomings and at times disinterested energy before the benching. I can see why you spend as much time as you do on twitter. Toxic needs toxic. Hopefully your day gets better my friend.
