Just saying, we could have chosen CJ. I think Frank Reich wanted CJ but Tepper wanted Bryce. Nonetheless, Houston not talking about the 5th year option with him... or am I mistaken?

Those Fox/Rivera teams had personality, even if they got poo on and made us mad, we still loved watching them. This team isn't very fun to watch. Even the close games like the Packers game was like, whatever. They have the energy of a dad doing taxes. The only player I actually really like is Rico and he'll be gone next year.

I really think a lot of what people took from last season was kind of what they wanted to take, but I am not sure it was justified. There is a relativity thing in play. Said it before last year started too, 2024. And it is, simplified, that he was so bad that he could be twice as good and still be below average. Very general estimates there but the point is he had a long way to go to be good vs NFL standards. I think he was better but not there. People saw it relative to how bad he had been and blew it up to something it wasn’t. I mean yes he was much better, but better than what? He needed to show improvement this season over his ‘resurgence’ to finish 2024. That is proving to be difficult for him. He has topped out. His ceilings are okay to good, and when he plays Atlanta, very good. But his floor is still really low. I don’t think that is changing this year if it didn’t against the Saints and on Monday. I am okay with pulling the plug and really don’t feel the need to watch him play out the string. I guess he has 5 games to flip that.

Talked to my buddy on the phone about the Panthers and I think we are gonna have Geno Smith on the team next year.
-
I don't see it being tolerated in Houston

I agree... the improvements we saw at the end of last year just has not materialized this year. I wondered the same thing. Is Bryce REALLY putting in the work in the off-season and during the season to be the best QB1 he can be? There seems to be a competitive fire that is missing with Bryce. I've been rooting for the kid, I really have. But yeah, there's a point where you just have to be honest about it. In Houston, they're not asking this question, right?

Over 7 billion fuging people on this planet, and that's the list of the potential saviors of the Carolina Panthers? We're fuged.

I mean fug maybe. What the hell is a hand made pickle???

Bryce haters get in this thread.....

Even if we win the division, I'd only let Bryce play out his 4th year at best. IMO, he's not done enough to actually fix his issues during his 3 years here. Those things were his to fix outside of team activities, with private coaching, etc. His lack of improvement to his craft is more telling to me than anything he's done on the field.

I can't disagree with that notion for sure. Yeah, he'd REALLY have to show great improvement. Basically, if we win the division, MAYBE it's worth considering, but you're right, is he worth it in the long run... maybe not.

I went to a bar that said it had hand made pickles. I don't know what that meant. Maybe Jimmy Clausen would have rubbed some cucumbers or something. I didn't find out. I'm sorry.

Probably a good thing they dont review what happens in the dog pile after a tackle.

I think the stupid stuff is coachable. I also think it is in fact a maturity intangible he could grow out of. Kid has a cannon for an arm and has size and mobility. Of course it's a gamble, but he's only 26. He shows passion when he's on the field and that what you want from your QB1. So if we could get him for the right price I think it's an option worth considering.
-
You're willing to pay him 27m guaranteed 2 years from now based on the next 5 games? I don't even know how you could even entertain that based on what he's done the past 3 years. Even if you don't look at his stats, he has done nothing noticeable to improve his mechanics or footwork. It's the same now as it was in year 1.
-
I am ready to call it. 2 of the last 3 weeks have been horrible. I am for sure at the point I fear more false positives. Like that’s about all we have gotten from him the entire time.
-
I would be ok with Levis. He shows a competitive fire when he's out there. That's what's missing with this team.
