He sure could pump fake the h- outta the ball with an injured thumb. Impressive...
-
I fine with Burns leaving, I am not fine with Evero staying.

The Giants arent much better according to this chart. They are actually doing worse overall than we have since the trade.
-
This whole 3-4 vs 4-3 debate is pretty tiresome and useless. Most teams are running nickel (or some nickel variant) over half of their defensive snaps because of the amount of offenses that are running spread offenses with 3 wide receivers (and a lot of teams are incorporating more RPO plays). Now, the real question is when offenses start shifting back to a more power run type of style, do teams start changing course and running less nickel...
-
Move back to 4-3 full time, start putting more mass and muscle into our DEs and push for more blitzing, too. I'm sick of a passive defense approach... "Do what you want to the girl, just leave me alone" isn't how you win in the NFL.

Not Necessarily Panthers Related but....

I'd rather not have Burns and draft good edge rushers. He wasn't worth the contract he got for a dude that could only rush the passer and frankly did a terrible job of it for us because whenever he did beat his blocker, he would whiff on the QB. Congrats to him for actually being able to wrap up the QB this year - it's the first time he has consistently been able to do it. The amount of teams that ran right at him while he was with us shows that teams realized he was an undersized edge and could get pushed backwards several yards on run plays. Having Dexter Lawrence next to you helps mask that problem
-
I mean, some of y'all keep on saying that, but the fact is is that he is the only Giant feasting. Burns is just better than many of us thought, myself included. Sometimes it just takes guys time to get to the top of their game, that's why I'm going to give our rookies a lot of grace. It might be a couple of years before they hit their stride (though it didn't take Burns that long). But I have been disappointed. Moreover, I suspect that they all might benefit by migrating to a 4-3 base. But Burns is what he is. It was ultimately bad timing IMO. After Scott Fitterer failed to take the two firsts, things were destined to go downhill. I think we should've kept Clowney for another year or so more than Burns, but it's all been fûcked up anyway, so nobody was probably going to make that much of a difference.

I say bring Lance in. We have an OL, decent weapons and, by god, a QB whisperer as a HC. (obviously joking about that last part) Plus, we're statistically due to have a reclamation project work.
-
Come on, man. He's a professional athlete. Those rocks were at least 20lbs.
-
I mean, I don't really think he is a starting QB. We are starting him at QB. Anthony Richardson was technically a starting QB. Justin Fields is technically a starting QB. The one common trait they share is that none of them are actually starting QB caliber.
-
I disagree. He appeared to have 15 pounds of rocks attached to his brain. Andy has never been a great athlete and he is less so with age. He is typically fairly decisive and doesn't hold onto the ball too long. That was not Sunday. It looked as if Bryce Young's brain had inhabited Andy's decrepit body with the full confidence of Bryce at Alabama.
-
Bryce is a starting QB, even if he's the 30th best one. Short of getting Daniel Jones in here, or trading for a QB, he's our starter until we draft another one. Not saying it's the right decision and I'm not a fan, but a one year commitment with the option...they're not going to blink at that IMO. If they start talking extension with him, we riot.

@panthers81gets it with Svech. 1 point for you @DavidEng1 @organicrusty12011

You are misreading that table. The $12 mil is happening no matter what. That is fully guaranteed. $37 mil is the value of his total rookie contract without the option. The option would be $26.5 mil at the moment, but that number would likely rise. Currently: https://overthecap.com/fifth-year-option-projections
-
The issue with that option is that it's going to be pretty pricey. $26.5ish mil is a tough pill to swallow for a non-starter. Doesn't have to be in the 1st either. I think this class will be pretty deep with #2 QB's.

Gotta figure out a way to win being so hurt. Id mix up these lines big time. Swap Ehlers and Svech Blendamour away.
-
picking up the option commits us to bryce for 2 more years at roughly 12 and 37ish million per. So so much for the rookie contract being in our favor https://overthecap.com/player/bryce-young/10825
-
30+ games is too soon to have an opinion. You heard it here folks
-
I was referring more to the unnecessary moton ext moreso than anything else. If we redid his deal to bring someone in, sure fine, but to unnecessarily free up space, and add money to his deal on the back end was fuging stupid

Bryce Young a full participant at practice today

I think we have largely ignored a lot of red flags for Canales and excused them as "learning." Remember when Ron talked about reaching out to his mentors during his early tenure here? I question if Canales really has those resources to even draw upon. -
Gotta sign a decent FA and add another one in the draft. Don't force anything but if the right guy is there in the 1st don't hesitate. Bryce ain't it.
-
It is indeed. Most of what gave Dalton fits is that he had 15lb rocks attached to his feet.
-
Bryce's option is 100% being picked up. I'd be floored if it wasn't. He's going to make more sense than 95% of the free agents, but it's just the option. Doesn't prevent us from going after somebody, drafting somebody, etc. Best case you draft a guy who shows promise, Bryce is on his option and plays well, and then we're in a Vikings style scenario with Darnold/McCarthy. Hopefully the early returns for us end up being better than the Vikings.
