BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff
strato replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There’s no way we are gonna know, if they address it it will be portrayed as a mutual decision, most likely. Whether it was 80-20 ‘mutual’ or 50-50 mutual. One thing I believe is encouraging is they know they have to do better and probably have a good enough rapport where this can be candidly discussed. I doubt this was forced on Canales. Yeah it could have been I just don’t think it was 100-0 -
NHL Olympics Thread (Or just Olympics in general)

Aho and the fins were absolutely ass today. But they could bounce back. Too much talent to suck that bad vs Slovakia -

I like that even less. I hope there's a plan at the coaches position when this coming season is over. I have little faith this ends in a positive way. -

It makes a difference whether it was a suggestion or a memo to Canales in this case. I'm not sure what to make of it honestly. -
I bet they wish they had the option to have not drafted him now.

The funniest thing was Morgan and co crowing like roosters that we were able to get his 5th year option. Buffalo was like
-
He plays like an aggressive animal and has size and speed for days. If he makes it to round 2 for us then its a blessing but my gut says thats not happening. He is a really good linebacker. Would rather have Styles but thats not happening. Trade back from 19 and pick this dude up if he falls (which I doubt)

The funniest thing was his pro projection was Jonathan Mingo in a lot of mocks.

NFL.com mock draft: Panthers trade up for Reuben Bain
panfanman replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
No. . .just no to trading up in the 1st or 2nd. Totally not worth draft capital when good players will be available in both rounds at our draft position. -
As far as age, I doubt the Saints regret taking Shough, Different position I know, but if he is ready to step in? I expected not to like Person’s choices but I am good with this. At least, without looking to see who he passed on to take these guys. I can say, the last thing I want to see in the 1st or 2nd round is a WR or TE.

Alignment between the key people is always what you strive to have. The Seahawks fans were no doubt butt hurt over that SB goal line play. You know yourself we have fans that one mistake like that totally defines all future prospects with a player or coach. Every base has them. I will just cite the recent experience in Miami as a positive. He worked closely with a leading offensive mind, and a fuging project QB like we have here. -

I agree. Good maneuvering by Dan to have it addressed this way. There may be a way to get Canales to be better at what he is weak on just with some competent help. If not, plan B is ready to hit the ground running. -
I’m of the school of thought that we need an instant starter. He’d start instantly, needs no physical changes, already refined technique and plays the run and pass at high level. You’ve got young Princely developing, and really Scourton too. We need a PLAY NOW edge. It’s hard to sign a free agent worth a damn at edge, aged 25 or 30, lord knows we’ve tried.

BREAKING: Panthers adding to coaching staff

I recall Seahawks fans were quite happy to see Bevell fired, so... yeah. I was also going to say that it's hiring someone Canales already knows and whether that's helpful in bringing in new ideas, but then there's the whole deal with how Reich's staff was assembled with people he had less connections with and how that turned out. -

I don’t see it that way. There is common ground from Seattle with Morgan, I think, and Canales and probably Idzik too - without looking it up. Canales worked for Bevell, having a guy there that has done your same job can really be a good thing. As that guy knows the job and has a perspective that someone like Idzik has yet to acquire. I put it this way, if you have done the same job you can be a better employee or assistent to the guy in it now. It is a personal anecdotal conclusion as I was an employee, and then a boss for pretty good while and when that ended and I was an employee again elsewhere, I was much better at it than I had been in my earlier employee days. The only way it could be bad on its face, to me, is if Bevell is out to steal the HC job, to undermine. Which I can’t assume is true. I do feel like Caldwell is likely pretty worthless. Capers slightly less so because he was brought in to help Evero who is still here. Not sure who Caldwell was brought in to mentor. It wasn’t Canales. I doubt we need either. -

Its a great move IMO, feels like a compromise between DC and morgan. "You can keep calling plays but we have another option if things dont improve" -

He also has interim HC experience with two teams. If it gets to that kind of place. I think it is a good move. Could be really good. We will see but I totally get it, personally. It doesn’t mess the cap at all, what do we care if the coaching payrolls gets bigger? Which as far as that goes, whatever offsets were in Reich’s deal allow you to fold Bevell’s cost into what is deducted because of what he makes with the Jets. Probably a wash, at worst. If we were even concerned about that
