McDaniel is a weird cat though. His style isn't going to mesh with a lot of orgs. He screams OC. Not HC.
-
Yep we are in a fuged spot regarding the 5th, personally I dont see one iota of benefit in doing so
-
I know he's already been linked to a few other teams' HC openings, but I can't for the life of me understand why. I don't think he's been remotely good in Miami.
-
Do you not want us to read and respond to the threads you start? What an odd take
-
So yall are out on Bryce, but in on Malik Willis? That's... interesting.
-
I am not here to say if he is or isn't an option. I would also say that we shouldn't be hyper focused on a long term QB. That contributed to how badly we fuged up the Bryce Young pick. We aren't in a position with this bad of a roster to be QB desperate. Just focus on getting BETTER and potentially better options. Bryce is clearly a bust so continuing this is just pointless. Build the roster, IMPROVE at QB and keep moving forward.

S Fowler Coker in, Legette out as wr2
Montsta replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s the small things too like refusing to tap toes on sideline catches. Every WR since pop warner gets taught that and does it on instinct and muscle memory. Except XL, who catches (lol) sideline passes with a massive step out of bounds instead of a dragged toe. Like every time too. -
Talking about not overpaying for a qb in the same thread you advocate dishing out 30 mil for two more years of Bryce is a take.
-
MM would be a 5 star get as OC
-
There's currently 7 other open HC slots in the league. There is no way McDaniel will need to take a step back to OC unless he wanted to.
-
I think he could get another head coaching gig with all the openings
-
It's possible but I think if you look at the potential options available it's unlikely. He is going to be a FA that some teams love and some teams are highly skeptical of. Not trying to make a direct comparison(which is very unfair to Willis) but you didn't see a big market unfold for Kyle Allen after his "success" streak in Carolina. It's possible you get a team or two willing to pay a Justin Fields level contract($20 mil AAV), but I think a Mac Jones level deal is more likely. Shorter and for less money overall.
-
not happening, but Morgan should force the issue. Reality is, I think the Seattle buddy club is going to keep looking out for each other
-
I’ll be god damned if I sit idly by while you besmirch the good name of Mark Sanchez. Women want him. Men want to be him. Elderly delivery drivers mace him and stab him.
-
QB is our biggest need but even bringing in Pat Mahomes is not going to turn this team into a consistent contender. We are still at least a couple of very good offseasons away from even thinking about consistency. Make no mistake, this is still a bad roster. We have to keep plugging away at improving it and we need more 2025 offseasons than 2024 offseasons.
-
Jmac started following Mike McDaniel for OC?
-
They need a dedicated O.C. Doesn't matter if Canales wants it or not. The play calling has been anemic at best. Let Canales concentrate on his HC duties. M.M did well with Tua when his head wasn't scrambled. Maybe turn the offense around and score more than 17 points a game.

I am not in favor of "going all out." That is a bad plan. I have said repeatedly if we are going to keep Bryce for next season(I am not in favor of this either), that we should jettison Dalton and add both a FA/veteran QB capable of being better than Bryce(smaller bar than Bryce is) AND a DRAFTED rookie QB from Day 2/3. Let's get some darts on the board at QB to upgrade while the rest of the roster builds. If we can build a good roster, eventually we can either attract a good veteran QB FA or make another Bryce-like move up because one of our few remaining weaknesses is just QB.
-
If a "bridge" QB beats him out then so be it. Just can't see paying $10M+ per or giving up picks.
-
Also bringing up how clutch a qb is the last bastion for dead enders. You’re now on the same tier as The Golden Calf of Bristol and mark Sanchez defenders.
-
Right. but no extension for Bryce yet. 5th year option? Sure. I think Bryce's camp will agree they aren't in the best place to demand an extension or top dollar.
-
McDaniels is out as Dolphins HC

Several of those guys you listed are upgrades over Bryce and several more are potential upgrades. There will be other starting(or former) QB's coming available too(Geno Smith, Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, etc). Or there are backups that can clearly be upgrades(Mac Jones, Jacoby Brissett, Davis Mills, etc). Now, how realistic any of these options are is questionable. For any of the acquisition options, price would be a big factor. For any of the older veterans their motivation for even wanting to come to a team like this is pretty questionable. That extends to several other FA candidates, as well. Are we operating in a therotical world where Bryce is still here and presumed to be the starter? That is going to eliminate some options. Are we operating in a theoretical world where it is a "competition" and Bryce is still here? Or is Bryce gone completely? Those are all factors that make various of these scenarios both more and less "realistic." But, if the question is can we upgrade over Bryce? There is no question we can do so through free agency or potentially the draft.
-
The whole “pick up the fifth year but also bring in competition” is the weirdest take. you only pick up the fifth if he’s the guy. You don’t bring in someone to “push” him if you think he’s it. throwing a seventh or whatever at a project isn’t relevant either way.
-
I feel the same way Loomis does. He would take the playoff game though if he had it, and say something different.
-
No one is suggesting going all out to get a QB. You can get a cheap QB that raises the ceiling of our O to be a bridge......while you wait to actually go address the QB. Bryce is a bridge QB. That's the tier QB he is. A body a team would have as they wait to make a move for QB. Folks just want a better bridge QB that makes the O more threatening until we go make a move for QB
