He was never fast though. He was elusive, allegedly, and good at picking up yards when plays broke down. My thing is why not try it at this point? It can’t get worse than this. You sold the farm for the guy. Design the offense for him and if it doesn’t translate to the NFL you know there’s no hope for him. I didn’t understand that about Reich either. It was like he was hellbent on showing the world that Young couldn’t cut it as a standup pocket passer. If he had schemed for Bryce and just let him fail if he couldn’t execute it he may still be coaching.

Anyone going to the shitshow bowl in Germany?

Forgot it was against the Giants that's hilarious -
They should be playing as if we still have McCaffery. Bryce has to be rolling out and throwing on the run for the majority of his snaps. He is a detriment in the pocket because he can't see over the line and lacks the arm strength to be a deep threat. He should be scurrying around in the backfield until a WR finds seperation in the short field, otherwise he's gotta pick up the yards himself or dump it off. Dink and dunk effectively enough and defenses will give opportunities to chuck it deep and pray. Maybe he's not accurate enough to pull it off but it's the only path to success for him, and what drives me mad is we knew that was his game when we drafted him and still aren't doing it for whatever reason I missed the game (great fortune that ended up being) but it sounds like they still aren't really doing that. What's crazier is that apparently the OL held up well so they're not the issue. Why NOT do that if this is the alternative? Is Young just a deer in headlights or is Canales another snake oil salesman?

It's interesting how QBs hold the blame when they fall off but their surrounding cast gets credit when things turn around. Like did anyone consider that Baker could be the reason Baker has improved?

Ashley had big shoes to fill after Stephanie Ready and exceeded all expectations. She could have gotten by on her looks alone but took the reporting seriously and did her research; that impressed me about her from the get. She'll be a good host wherever but I honestly hope she keeps going with sports. Please sign Eric to a lifetime contract

Literally worst case scenario. Do that and Panthers head coach officially becomes the league's dead end job. It'll take a trillion dollars guaranteed to get a high school coach here.

Going #1 is proof that nothing is a sure thing
MechaZain replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Panthers front office is a joke but not enough is said about how badly the national media botched scouting Bryce Young. You can’t be more wrong than “superprocessor” and that was like the universal consensus on the kid. Amazing. -
Thursday front office press conference 11am

Dan’s comment was obviously about the defense. The Rhule and Snow era tweeners we’ve been complaining about here for years. Y’all doing too much. -

He was trying to hit guys in stride and he doesn't have the arm strength to get deep downfield on time like that. There's a higher margin of error on the accuracy when you're intentionally putting air under it. I'm imagining plays where Leggette and the defender get to the spot well beforehand and XL wrestles it down since that was his thing in college.

He doesn’t need to be quick he’s here to bring down 50/50 balls. Have y’all seen Bryce throw deep?

This is why he gets a pass on last year from me. Maybe Frank believes a good quarterback should be able to adapt to whatever system he’s given but when yours is a statistical anomaly to begin with, trying to force him into a prototypical mold is just setting him up for failure. The only knock I have on Bryce is I do expect a #1 QB to be able to overcome a bad situation from time to time, at least glimpses of it. I didn’t see it at all last season but maybe the team was really that bad.

What is the benefit to benching starters for the preseason?
MechaZain replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Injury prevention is the only thing that makes sense. There's no benefit in protecting Bryce's ego/"hiding how bad they are". None of that would matter once week 1 rolls around. I don't mind it one bit. Bryce getting injured before we get a full assement would ruin everything, that's not worth getting an early look. If the team sucks as much as feared a couple of a preseason snaps are not going to make the difference. -
you're probably more right than you know

not claiming them I get but this is wack

Everybody hates Bryce - TC August 11th

Teddy had a much better offense than Bryce y'all. Their deep balls look about the same to me -
Keep Pounding Mr.Scot. Praying for you, my friend.

The company line is that everyone in the building wanted Young. If there was discontent behind the scenes the whole organization covered it up, Reich included. Sabotaging Young and the team to prove a point is unprofessional BS. If it was his way or the highway he should have taken a hard stance on the pick and walked away from the job before it got to that point. We know that a big problem with Reich's staff was that everything was done by committee. I doubt Tepper just came in and forced the pick on his own. I think it's more likely that Reich wanted CJ but the pro-Bryce camp was larger, and instead of growing a pair and fighting for that he went along with the group and protested in silence. Fuq that.

Wilson is notoriously pretty bad at it. It’s why he struggles now. He got around it in his younger days because his athleticism would cause plays to break down and create openings. And he had Lynch for misdirection. I actually disagree on Bryce. Felt like all they had him doing were highly choreographed throws and he was serviceable at it, but they were too predictable and we don't have the receivers or protection to be able to dink and dunk NFL defenses all game. I thought the whole point of drafting the kid was that he’s slippery in the backfield and great at improvisation but they made him a pocket statue. And he’s too short to do that! It’s baffling to me that they didn’t try to scheme to his strengths.
