You need THREE receivers in the league now, not just two.

For two 2nd round picks this year and no players or future draft picks, plus we get to keep our first? With Jim Caldwell and Frank Reich? Running the Rams offense? Re-sign D'onta Foreman? DJ Moore, Terrace Marshall and hopefully Mims? Abso-fuging-LOOTely I just wouldn't trade a 1st, or multiple 1sts, for him. I wouldn't trade 1st's for anyone. This team needs a core of talent. You don't get that by being a dumbass and trading away the only assets you have to build out your roster.

Panthers met with Hooker per report
CPcavedweller replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he can be taken in the 3rd round I'm all for it. However we already have Corral who, in my opinion, has better physical tools, release, and power than Hooker. Not sure we should hang Corral out to dry yet. -
Interesting twist regarding Lamar Jackson...
CPcavedweller replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
$133 million guaranteed for a guy who is touching and possibly running the ball on any and every play is plenty enough. He may think it's disrespectful based on what he's done, but what will he do over the life of the contract is the question? Lamar is a guy who will need talent around him. Hell, they only beat the Panthers 13-3 with a guy who wants $180 to $200 million full guaranteed. If you're paying a QB what Lamar wants, you better be winning those games and performing well, which he didn't. Again, as he ages, running is going tobdrop off and injuries are going to increase. If he had the arm of Mike Vick maybe you bite the bullet but I'd put PJ Walker up against Lamar in a passing competition. -
Robbie Anderson is now Chosen Anderson

I'm thinking he had a lot of input. You can't have roster control and not have major input on contracts. -
Interesting twist regarding Lamar Jackson...
CPcavedweller replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
He doesn't want $180 million guaranteed. He wants $250 million guaranteed. With that, along with three first round picks, is a big no. If it was Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow, that's a no brainer as they are reliant on their arm. Jackson is reliant on his legs, and when you take that from him, what are you left with? Hint: not a lot -
NFL Top 100 Throws of the 2022 Season
CPcavedweller replied to SZ James (banned)'s topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd be interested to see PJ as a back-up with this staff. Much better than Tyler Huntley, in my opinion. -
Considering the people brought in, it has to be Anthony Richardson.

Our pass protection was horrendous last year. People tend to forget that when evaluating how Sam did. I'd like to see a QBR adjusted for protection scores. I think you'd see guys like Sam last year increase and others go down.

Been playing cards against humanity? Had to Google what seppuku is? Me either... -
The goofiest cornball coach in the NFL?
CPcavedweller replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Then it's almost certainly not going to. -
Steve Smith: "I asked for a release."
CPcavedweller replied to MechaZain's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you're the only person that remembers, it never happened. I'm also 31 so I'm guessing I would've been early teens when that happened. Not something I would've paid attention to. -
Steve Smith: "I asked for a release."
CPcavedweller replied to MechaZain's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ummm... Then what was "blood and guts because of the way they just dropped me like that" all about? I love Steve Smith but damn if that didn't cast a shadow over the entire team for a period of time because of the poo that he said happened. -
Coaching Staff: Final Pieces (as of 2-23-23)
CPcavedweller replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most exciting staff since we have Rivera, McDermott, Chudzinski, and Jeremy Shockey.. Of course Shockey was a coach y'all. -
From Athletic J Person on Caldwell connections and OC
CPcavedweller replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Seems like he "wants his QB", regardless of whether it's a good idea or not. He's meddled to the point we've lost 8 or 9 picks for Bridgewater, Darnold, and Corral. Now they want to draft another QB? Dude, develop what you have for a moment, particularly if the next guy you're going to waste capital on isn't as close to a sure thing as possible. -
You would trade two firsts for Young or Stroud? When you have Drake Maye and Caleb Williams coming out next year? Come on man. I'd fuging sell everyone, trade everyone, and get as many picks as possible to get Maye or Williams. Young or Stroud? Nah.

Poll: What do you want Panthers to do for QB?
CPcavedweller replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Loaded question as you don't have "none of the above". Trade down, re-sign Darnold, stack talent. Give Darnold a fair shake with a reason NFL coaching staff. -
So wait, we can hire Jim Caldwell who interviewed for the HC job, Evero who interviewed for the HC job, but not Wilks...? Tepper showing his true colors here. Wilks never had a shot.

This is going to be a rebuild. I hope fans realize this but it won't be a 1 year turnaround type deal. Especially not rolling with a rookie QB or Matt Corral, changing to a 3-4 defense, and with our salary cap situation. That said, does anyone know if we've reached out to Eric Bienemy. He's another Eagles guy and has obviously been with Reid. You have to to think those two second half touchdowns that saw receivers wide open were Bienemy's doing as Reid was quite effusive in his praise after the game. I think pairing him with Reich and McCown would be a very good staff.

Would you trade 9 for Fields - straight up?
CPcavedweller replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
No. What are you going to have to pay him in a year? Maybe trade down, get more picks, then give them your traded down pick. But for 9, the value isn't there for a 3rd year QB. -
The epiphany should be that you need an amazing tight end to compete in the league. 2015 - Panthers had Olsen and Broncos had Julias (or whatever his name was) 2016 - Don't remember who played 2017- Don't remember who played All I know is that the 49ers have Kittle, the Panthers had Olsen (and no receivers), the Chiefs have Kelce, the Eagles have Goedert, the Cowboys have Schultz, the Bucs/Patriots had Gronk. If we take a QB, we have to draft a tight end. You want to know whose next in line to take a leap? The Falcons. Why? Because they have solid receivers, a guy who will probably be the best test end in football, and all they are missing is a QB. Put money on it.
