Kony played well a few games I thought but man, he looked like he could be an All-Pro. Never again though.
-
I, too, do not remember the end of the game once it became apparent what was going to happen. The drinks began to flow.
-
They looked lost early, and then they figured it out. By then, it was too late. The NFL didn’t cause the strip sack TD directly but the missed Cotchery catch did. They missed multiple personal fouls on hits to Cams head. All im saying is that the butterfly effect is real. Ever since that call on Cotchery, the Panthers haven’t been the same.

Physically gifted. Better?
-
If the Colts are going to suck as bad as Jones and Richardson looked, you may as well suck with Leonard. Looking like the kid from Duke that took them to new heights, and then finally got over the hump for Notre Dame. Steichen shouldn't overthink this.
-
Also, Anthony Richardson's pinky was at a 90 degree angle. Broken probably, dislocated definitely. If he can't get coverages right in a Preseason game, he has no hope. The things the NFL will overlook for physical traits are absurd.

Tyler Warren is still going to beast. He looked the part.
-
This is irritating. During the Pre-season I get the Ravens, Commanders, and Panthers preseason games. During the regular season, despite being within NC borders, I only get Commanders games. Right across the river, where I can kayak in about 30 minutes, I could get the Panthers games. The NFL needs to do something because there is no reason, as a resident of North Carolina, that I should be getting a game from a city two states away.
-
Quick: Tyler Warren is going to break rookie receiving records for all positions and Matthew Golden is going to be Rookie of the Month at least once. Tet will make plays but won't approach the heights of those two.

Cherelus down. We need to be talking about LBs even more
CPcavedweller replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Who? I thought Huddlers has decided that only corners and edge rushers mattered to good defense now? Linebackers don't really matter man. Dime a dozen. That's why we replaced Luke Kuechly so quickly.... Our linebacker corp is screwed, and that's ironic to me. Get Ron Rivera in the building for just one off-season please. -
What is bro even doing now? He literally just disappeared. Didn't know his personal story until now. Spent a lot of time in juvy in Middle School, graduated high school at age 20, got paid, got lazy. Could've made generational wealth and ensured his kids never endure what he had to and, he created personal wealth. Oh well.

I wanted to, and still wish we would have traded down. Retain Wilks, retain Darnold, retain the battering ram at RB, build out the offensive line and build a smashmouth offense with deadly downfield play action passing. Now what I'm describing is largely the Lions, but that's what worked in 2022. Instead I've had to wait three years of time that I'll never get back, in my life which is limited like the rest of us, for us to maybe be decent again. That's what people don't get. Sure, we are just fans. But many of us have been around so long that you have major life events tied to certain team events in your memory, right or wrong. We have sucked for 8 years. The Panthers have not had a winning season for my middle sons entire life. That is insane. Make it worth trading our time to support your product. Time is the only currency we have that really matters and we hand it out like we can go pick more from the tree in the front yard. Y'all got me all philosophical now.

My point wasn't to say that Chark has lived up to his draft status, which I'd say a 2nd rounder getting 1,000 yards is fine. It's more or less to say that we shouldn't crown Tet, or Legette, for that matter. Legette has produced for us but his drops cost us at least one win, maybe more. Horn Jr. is fighting for a roster spot still but looks likely to make it, still hasn't played a down. I also have to wonder how much of this is related to coaching? What would Chark and TMJ look like playing in a Canales offense? On raw ability, Chark and TMJ were uber talented receivers stuck here with poor coaching. Sort of like how Sam nearly carried the team, with Wilks and a smashmouth run game, to the playoffs. I'll wait to see how Tet and Horn perform, and if XL can resolve his catch issues or if he fades into Panthers 2nd round receiver obscurity. Too early to tell.

1. Adam Theilen was robbed of a touchdown against the Bucaneers 2. Cotchery caught the ball, and not overturning that call actually lost the Panthers the Super Bowl. Three plays later, Cam was strip sacked and the Panthers went down 10-0 early in the first, yet marched their way back. Take that free space away and it changes the entire complexion of the game, which the Panthers were beginning to figure out as the game went along. I still hate that, to this day, moreso for Kuechly, Davis, and Rivera than anyone else. Those were three dudes and should be in the Panthers Ring of Honor. They embodied what it meant to "Keep Pounding" and Luke's postseason performance was worthy of an exhibit in Canton as is. Feeling sentimental today. The refs wanted to get the Manning's their last Super Bowl, and they got it. The football gods know this as well and Arch will have to pay for their thievery.

Wednesday practice tweets (joint practice with the Browns!)
CPcavedweller replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Where did you attend college and learn to draw that conclusion? It means that the QBR when targetting XL was 86.3. That is a stat measuring Legette's play, not the QB's. Legette made is harder than 138 other receivers on his QB. -
Other than Mingo for Legette, there isn't a huge difference in the first team. Chark is a 1,000 yard receiver, and Tetairoa hasn't caught a single pass in an NFL game. So you can't really say whether that is better or not. I also really liked Shenault for what he could do as a sort of joker.

Possible the Browns are looking to trade Shadeur?
CPcavedweller replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Their goal is this. 1. Joe Flacco is the starter 2. Keep Watson on PUP because you can’t afford to cut him and you don’t want him taking up a roster spot 3. Gabriel and Sanders will be back-ups. Neither are going to the practice squad because someone will pick them up 4. Kenny Pickett is trade bait. If he isn’t a better option than Flacco, then you trade him 5. They can’t keep two veterans on with Watson’s whale of a contract already holding the team down. I believe it was a competition between Pickett and Flacco to start. Whomever loses either gets cut or traded -
It could work. I’d love for it to work out and extract the best from Bryce and Tet. I just love guys that can beat coverage and get open. We haven’t had a lot of that as Panthers fans going back to Steve Smith, DJ Moore, and I guess CMC. I like a good shake and go receiver.

What is it with you younger guys who post something, get a response, and then go “LOL, YOU TYPE TOO MUCH DADDDDD”. Just pre-teen levels of arrogance in so few words it’s shocking. You have nothing of substance to add, don’t say anything at all. Easy as that. In a room of smart people, the less you say, the better. -
A good offensive line can make an average running back look like an All-Pro, and can at least make a QB look competent. People get it to a point but man, receivers and corners good enough to get the job done are a dime a dozen. They sell jerseys though.

Eh. The Dolphins doubled down on what Tua does well, which is similar to what Bryce does well, and went out and got world class route runners with world class speed. The Dolphin's have lost because Tua has a concussion problem. You help your quarterback and I think Bryce can be an All-Pro caliber player, based on what we saw last season, particularly when Adam got back. So rather than forcing the issue and taking guys who are very talented, but don't fit, I think you go get guys that fit what your QB does well. Golden would have been the perfect player for what Bryce does well. As for Tet, he is a talent to be sure, but he has trouble creating separation. He had issues in Arizona with this, and he's had issues in camp. Nearly every ball against man coverage is contested, and that's not a good thing no matter who your QB is.

Flacco is the starter. That isn't a surprise as it's already been their plan. The way I see it is that Pickett was picked up as trade bait. You have Watson on an insane contract, and hope to keep him on PUP so he doesn't take up a roster spot. You have Flacco as your starter and then two cheap rookies as back-ups. It isn't a recipe for success but it's the hole they've dug themselves. They can't get rid of two rookies on 3rd and 5th round contracts with the contract that Watson has, in my opinion. And honestly, I expect Shedeur to play well tomorrow. I didn't care for him as a person but the utter disdain some people had for him made me check him out more closely, and he seems to be largely a good guy. Says the right things, has been doing the right things, his teammates like him and trust him, etc. It's very similar to how Cam was viewed outside of Carolina. But playing in a pro style offense in college, and your leading rusher has 300 yards, in 13 games, yet completing 74% of your passes for more than 4,000 yards with 40+ touchdowns, and winning awards, at a P5 school and then going in the 5th round is unheard of. He's at least a second round talent and I'm excited to see what he can do, or rather what Stefanski will call. Don't know if they will call the game to let him let it rip or just force the issue to drive down the field methodically. If Bryce Young can demand a kings ransom to trade up and get, none of the physical limitations they said that Shedeur had are really limitations at all. It was an excuse. -

Antonio Brown could also create 10 yards of separation through Hall of Fame level route running. XL doesn't have that. Tet won't get open but he will catch the ball away from his body. -
You're not going to change my mind on this. Defenses are worse today than they were. Positional value is irrelevant because relative defensive performance still wins championships. Even if defenses are not as good as they once were, it simply means teams are thinking that offensive spending leads to more wins and the Bengals and Eagles proved that isn't the case, on opposite ends of the spectrum. Give me a 2015 Panthers set-up with a better offensive coordinator and more consistent QB play over what the Bengel's are trying to do.

I agree with you. The difference between Adam being on the field and not being on the field is tangible. I don't think Tet is going to change that dynamic. That's why I wanted Golden. Give him a year or two behind Adam to learn the ins and outs of the NFL game and man, he would be dangerous. He's already going to be dangerous on his own but let him play behind one of the best route runners this generation of receivers and let him go. Given Bryce's game, I didn't like the Tet pick. So whether our success hinges on Adam really depends on how comfortable Bryce is throwing to covered receivers, because Tet has issues getting off of coverage. That was known from Arizona and doesn't seem to be any different here.
