  1. Lance doesn't hold a candle to Newton now or coming out of college, maybe even ever.
  2. I take Pitts or Micah Parsons. We picked up a potential quality QB already, time to replace Luke woth another generational Mike. You take Parsons if he's there, in my opinion. If you can get even middle of the road play from Darnold, rhe Panthers immediately become the 2nd team in the South.
  3. His playoff performances say otherwise. People like to dog on his Alabama game but that game, in my opinion, was more impressive than the Clemson game. It looked more poor than it really was because Ohio State's defense came up with one or two stops the entire game. Fields had to come off of his first read on many plays, and even if he had only done so once, that was one more time than Mac Jones. Anyone who would rather have Jones or Lance over Fields is a fool. Best case scenario for Fields is to go to the Patriots where he can sit behind Cam for a year.
  4. We would've won more games with a quality TE as well. You go Pitts, Sewell, or Chase. I'm not a fan of trading back out of the top 10.
  5. Kyle Pitts...point blank. Generational talent at TE to go with Moore, Anderson, and CMC. That position is what we were missing on late game drives and he's pretty much the only capable choice to make a big impact in 2021-22.
  6. The terminology changed from 1-AA to FCS and 1-A to FBS. Not Division 2 to FCS. App State was FCS (now FBS). Lenoir-Rhyne is Division 2.
  7. If their name isn't Fields, Wilson, or Lawrence I'm going to take a hard pass in Round 1. Watching the "Coaches Room" during the National Championship really showed me how Mac Jones was as successful as he was. He didn't make a single throw in that game that was his second read; one caveat is the RPO game where reading for a run or pass is technically a read. Without the caveat, his first option in the route tree was where he went every single throw in that game. Then you go back and watch highlights of the rest of the season and see the same thing. Jones was a product of overwhelming talent out wide and a coach who could scheme those guys open. Not a lot of improvisation or reads that depended on Jones' talent or intelligence.
  8. Taking a QB would mean that they are rebuilding. Matt Ryan hasn't fallen off physically and likely won't for quite some time. You take Pitts, have a quality offensive staff and they are not only contenders for the South but the Superb Owl.
  9. We take a hit whether he's released or traded. The point is that is a lot of capital tied up in one position, so unless you can trade Darnold as well, you let him walk for nothing next year making the trade for him pointless to begin with. I'm of the opinion that the Panthers Front Office believes Darnold can be the guy and will treat the draft as an opportunity to build around him. Considering he is the age of many Rookie QB's, it isn't farfetched to think that they really considered him a "draft pick".
  10. Devonta Smith or those two? When we just traded for Darnold? And still have Bridgewater and his cap hit? I'd say we are done with QB's for now.
  11. We couldn't get Trubisky to sign here so we trade a 2nd for Darnold and that's how you know he's plan F? What?
  12. Pre-Gase was his rookie season. If I remember correctly, Manning was putrid his rookie year as well. But he had a quality supporting cast and offensive coaching beyond that point. Not saying that Darnold is Manning but come on man. Gase is hot garbage and has a horrible record of talent development on his roster.
  13. Jets fans are dancing...because they lost a Top 5 pick for a 6th round pick in 2021 and a 2nd in 2022; a team that has shown it can't draft and retain talent for anything? They basically gave away their 24 year old QB for peanuts while having a Rookie HC and still no decent offensive coaching staff to speak of. Odds are they make the wrong draft choice in 2021 while the Panthers see Brady turn Darnold into what he was projected to be coming out of the draft.
  14. Are you a Scout? Are you a GM? Are you an NFL coach? Maybe they should seek your opinion next time they make a deal. Darnold is likely worth more than we gave up for him.
  15. How was Tannehill under Gase? How was Tannehill once he left Miami? Clearly the couch GM's and Scouts are out in full force today.
  16. Tannehill got out from under Gase and has gone to the playoffs twice while playing at a near Pro Bowl level. I'll take the bet that the Panthers are not only better with Darnold than Teddy but that Darnold under Brady during a normal off-season will blossom.
  17. If he works out, what's wrong with it? Nothing. Former Top 5 pick playing with the Jets who thought that hiring Adam Gase was a good idea. You saw what happened when Tannehill finally got out from under him right? If anything, the picks are worth the development time either way. I prefer Darnold to everyone in this draft not named Trevor Lawrence.
  18. So what we learned is that Short requires a real 0 tech to play next to. Him and Star were a perfect duo for one another.
  19. That division 2 school beat the states darling tar heel blue just two years ago. They actually drafted a QB, tried to turn him into a receiver in an Era where Foxball was still prevalent. Odds are he could've been a better QB than Jimmy Clausen though, at least he beat Michigan.
  20. I personally think that should be done. This franchise changed for the better while he was in Charlotte and while he was polarizing for some, his overall impact was incredibly positive. His stats, 55 TD's in 2015, speak for themselves. I personally wish the talking heads wouldn't gloss over his stats from that season as it really was one of the single greatest individual performances in THE MODERN ERA.
  21. They didn't lose a single game by less than one score and were a 2-point conversion away from beating Clemson. Tell me again how they were a bad team.
  22. Everyone other than Tom Brady and Rivers who was in a new system was below their career average. If I'm GM, I'm giving Bridgewater one more year with normal off-season workouts that actually include coaching with offensive staff before I'm cutting bait. Our playbook was likely severely limited and what wasn't limited wasn't practiced nearly as much as it otherwise would've been. Id expect nothing less than .500 in games decided by one score or less and actually believe we could be furore effective in those situations with normal practice schedules. People need to understand than of the Panthers go 5-3 instead of 0-8 in those games the Panthers are 10-6. If the Panthers break .500 we are 9-7 and in the playoffs. I blame COVID partially because Bridgewater showed some moxy in leading the team throughout games until closing when you require scripted play calls that require practice and familiarity. Count me as the oddball here,, but I won't be as upset as most if we don't draft a QB in this draft at all.
  23. We had an odd off-season in 2020 and sans Tom Brady every QB in a new system last season was bad. I'd give Bridgewater one more season before throwing him to the dogs.
