Adam Schefter - Panthers in talks to trade back
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am sure that there are several teams that have inquired about the pick. The question is. Do you make the move before the draft and get a 1st next year and let that team worry whether one of those QBs fall to 8 or will they wait until draft day. -
It's hard to pass on a Sewell or even Slater but this draft is loaded with the positions we most desperately need. Trading down and having the ability to get a few more talented players would help the long term success. But if you trade down. YOU HAVE TO NAIL THIS DRAFT. We cannot afford to have a Greg Little Bust on any pick in the first 4 rounds.
-
I like most of his stuff too. Not only will we pick Moore's option but he should be considered a Core Player that we should retained for most of his career.
-
What we can hope for is that all the QBs are taken 1-4 and someone other than Denver trades up for the #5 QB. Than I think we can trade Teddy to Denver and get whatever we can from them. A 4th or better would be a win. Otherwise, I expect a post June 1 cut.

The two I am interested in are the last two on this list. OT Spencer Brown Northern Iowa. OG David Moore Grambling State These would be nice day 3 picks if they were available. 2021 NFL Draft: Top offensive sleepers (usatoday.com)

At 39 Toney is no way the BPA. Not a bad WR but you're implying he's top 50. We have too many holes that need to be filled than WR and the BPA should fill one of those holes.

I saw a take where Mond and Mills draft stock had improved. Mills is intriguing. He would be the perfect backup/insurance policy for Darnold. Seems to have the tools and Brady could take his time with him. Take him with the 2nd pick. Though I prefer Creed Humphrey in the 2nd. Mills would not make my upset.
-
You know I have been on the Creed Humphry bandwagon since someone posted about his ability to command the line and take pressure off the QB. I think, especially with Darnold at the helm, this will be invaluable to his growth. Not to mention he is one of the top Centers in the draft. He could start at guard and learn from Paradis for a year. If we address OT with the first pick and Humphry with the second. I think we could go BPA the rest of the way.
-
The most telling point is that we signed him immediately. They had to realize that this guys has some great tools and will be a huge upgrade at guard and maybe take over center if and when Paradis moves on.
-
If we properly address the offensive line. I think with the offense we have we can win a lot of those games we lost last year. 10-7 to 11-6. I think we are going to see a very exciting team this year. I know many of the players we have added are unknowns. I have faith in Fitterer and Rhule that we are adding players that are going to improve this team and improve depth.

Colin Cowherd: Matt Kalil and Sam Darnold
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I believe Fields/Lance have just as many question marks as Darnold does. I don't think adding either of these QBs improves the position. Fill the roster with good young talent and let him grow. -
Couldn't have said it any better. We are in a position to put a winning team on the field in 2021. You can double down on another new QB or you can use that pick and build a good young team. If Darnold fails we will have two first round picks to move up to get one of the QBs of choice. This won't be the last year that many good young QBs come out of college.

For the right price next to Brown would be an interesting combo.

Colin Cowherd: Matt Kalil and Sam Darnold
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some of those highlights he moves well within the pocket and makes plays. Considering the coaching this is a promising virtue. If we can protect him better and with the weapons we have. He should do better. -

Kalil's point about them raving about Wilson making throws across his body and that he has seen Darnold make the same plays makes me believe he can be as good as Wilson with the right coach. I don't think we are targeting a QB anymore and hoping one of the good OTs are available at 8. We might trade back and still get one of the top 5 OTs in the draft. Plus gain an extra pick.
